さかなは自分には痛すぎて聴けない音楽だ。

嫌いといっているわけではない。さかなの「痛み」というのは不安定感であり、心を揺らす、という意味で本質的に感動的だ。ミニマルなアレンジの空白感、軽やかなメロディラインが重たく響く。

好きだから毎日聴くという類の音楽では、少なくとも自分にとっては、ない。苦労しているからすごいとかいうことではない。ただ、何か普通ではない遍歴がなければ決して出ない音が出ている。

たとえば3曲目Homeless Feebie-2のメロディ。
ものすごく好きなのだが、痛すぎて平常心では聴けない。

そんな音楽もあるということに驚かされる。

繊細なアルペジオ、力強いドラミングにのっかる
フワフワとしていつようで、非常に力強い
ブルージーで、ソウルフルなポコペンの歌声は
心に強く響く。
彼女の作る詩の世界は他に類を見ないものである。
秋の夜長にどっぷり漬かってみたい。

個人的にはライブで何度か聴いたpanamanian　hatが
好き。

このアルバムで初めてさかなを聴いてみました。ボーカルにかなりの個性があって、それを好きになれるかどうかが評価の分かれ目だと思います。独特の唄い方で素直に歌いません。音符一つ一つに対して止めたり、伸ばしたり、上げたり、下げたり。流れるように繋がっていきません。全編を崩しで綴っていく感じかな。一聴調子っぱずれに聴こえますが実際にはかなり歌の巧い人だと思います。比較的素直に唄った『Love Singer』にこのボーカルの素性の確かさが伺えます。音楽の中に自分を浸してその中で浮かぶような聴き方がさかなには合うと思うんですが自分にはこのスタイルがどうしても作為的に作られたスタイルに聴こえてしまいのめり込んでいけないんです。でも気になる音なので少し遡って聴いていきたいと思います。

その後『Blind Moon』『夏』『水』『マッチを擦る』と聴きました。聴いた事が無い音楽を嫌いの一言で済まさせないものをもってます。この退廃的なムードはシャンソンやゲンスブール等のフレンチポップのそれか？歌うというより詩吟？文学に近いかも。自分達流のビートニク？70年代フォークの音も聞こえる。実も蓋もないけど80年代アングラの匂いがぷんぷんする。っと、まあ、共通項をくくりだして解を出そうとするけど答えは出ず。彼らの音楽はどこにも依らないさかなと言うジャンルの音楽だろう。その独自性から聴く人を選ぶ。好きな人はどっぷりはまれるだろう。それと同じかそれ以上に受け付けない人も作り出してしまう。自分は．．．はまれない人間の一人です。稀にふと聴きたくなる時があるけど。
