CDを一回聞き終えた感想です。
筆者が音を選ぶときはだいたい理屈じゃなくて「感」に近いものなので、どこが良いとか決め手はとか聞かれても困るのです。だからレビューなんて書く資格ないかもしれないけど…

地上派では「BESTHIT U.S.A.」は貴重な洋楽情報源。11/4放送のクリップを観てとても引きつけられる何かを感じ、即買いしました。Vo.ブランドンの歌い方がU2のBONOに似てるなぁと思ったら、ライナーを読んでちょっと納得。彼の歌唱に影響があったかどうかは定かではありませんが、バンド結成のきっかけの一つだったみたいですね。好きなU2やデヴィッド・ボウイなどにインスパイアされているから気になったのかもしれません。でも、それに気づかなかったとしても、音の作り込み、テクニックも鍛えられたことだけあるし、とにかく楽曲とバンドのパワー、お勧めです。今までロックフェスに行ったことはありませんが、さぞ盛り上がったのではないかと容易に想像できます。
今後も要注目であることには間違いありません。

今年のフジロックにも出演した彼ら。印象に残った人も多いのでは。
80年代を思わせるサウンドと、気怠いけどふっ飛ぶ声。
パンク、ハード、メタル、それぞれの要素を持ちながらも、枠にはまり切っていないです。
この頃FMでもよくかかるし、何かと耳にする機会が多い曲「Somebody Told Me」。
ベテランを思わせる演奏を聴かせると思ったら、まだ日本ではデビュー前。
「The Killers」の名前通り、「Somebody Told Me」のPVを見れば瞬殺です。
これからの彼らに注目です！

ラスベガス出身だが、80年代UK風味の音を出し、英国でまず火がついた4人組。ベストヒットUSA世代の購買欲をくすぐるとの噂を聞いたときは「またまたあ?」と防衛本能が働いたが、確かにシンセのチープな使い方はあの時代のにおいが……。でもきっと彼らはこれが新しいと信じているはず。この思い込みがある限り古臭さは微塵も感じさせない。
