　このＣＤ、何はともかくジャケット・ワークというか体裁が非常によい。布張りの箱入りで、ケイヴの作品に対してこんな表現は不釣合いかもしれないが、大変おしゃれ。が、ニック・ケイヴといったら、人間の精神のカゲを抉り出して作品化する、いや、そんな手順など踏まず、ニック・ケイヴという人物が作品を作り出す過程で当たり前に人間精神のカゲが抉り出されるわけだが、そういう面から見るとこのジャケット(のデザイン)は、褒めたばかりでなんだが、ちょっと不釣合いだというほかない。
　さて、内容である。「Abattoir Blues 」と「 Lyre of Orpheus」というそれぞれ別々のコンセプトを持った２枚のＣＤがカップリングされている(？)わけだが、私個人としては前者が特に興味深く思われた。
　BSからブリクサが抜けたが、それでもノイジーで予測不能な曲は健在。だが、ケイヴ自身は猛り狂うことはなく、自分の手綱は自分で持っているのが感じられた。

Abattoir Blues / Lyre of Orpheusという題名のついた2つの違う色合いを持った作品。

【Abattoir Blues】
何か（誰か？）に挑戦をしているがごとく、彼にしてはストレートでポップ
な楽曲が耳に残る。
特に15ノリのよさは、わざとやっているのか？と思ってしまうぐらい。
サウンド的には今までと同じ方向性なものの、ブリクサ脱退のせいか、
今までにくらべると聴きやすいサウンドになっている。

【Lyre of Orpheus】
落ちついた雰囲気の楽曲が多く、今現在、NICK CAVEの等身大の姿を
表現しているかの様な作品。
聴けば聴くほど彼の歌声にのめりこんでしまう。
特に5は実にエモーショナルで個人的にはこの作品の中で一番好きな曲。

Lyre of Orpheusを聴くと、Nick Caveは実に良い歳のとり方をしている様に思える。
この男は、優しさまでを表現出来るアーティストになってしまった。
