何気に手にした雑誌・FOOL’S MATE でSaekoのインタビュー記事を発見。一読して
HMにかける狂おしいまでの一途な想いが伝わってきた。１４歳の頃からすべてを掛けて
突っ走ってきた彼女にとって、いまやHM イコール生きることなんだね。
HMという音楽の魅力にとりつかれただけの無力な少女が独力で世界デビューを果たすまで
には、十数年の年月と壮絶且つ奇跡的なドラマがあったようだ。

それにしても三年前、ドイツで運命的出会いをしたW:O:A会場で、「何故ここで日本人が
歌えないのか」と思い、「必ずここに帰ってくる! このステージに立ってみせる!! 」と心に誓った
というあたり、何という”男前 !!! ”と胸がすく。
ところが掲載の写真のSaekoはとてもナチュラル、繊細、優しげな佇まいでさえあり、
そのギャップに却って好奇心をそそられる。

まだアルバムは届かないが、こういうバックボーンの中から生み出される音楽は(出来、不出来
等の次元を超えて) 本物に違いない。さらに、国内でこじんまりと競争しあっている感のある
日本のHM／HRミュージシャン達の中にあって、一女性アーティストが捨て身で挑み、風穴
をあけてみせたその勇気に敬意を表し、さらに大阪の姉ちゃんということも加えて
(って、な~んも関係ないやろ) 星は５つということに。

「WACKENに出たい！」と小さなライヴハウスで夢を語ってくれた彼女。その後何のつてやコネも無いまま単身ドイツに渡り、たった数年でこんな劇的な成果を土産に再会できるとは・・・。世界に通用するヘヴイメタル・ヴ
ォーカリスト、SAEKOが人生を賭けた入魂の作品がここに到着。FAIRY MIRRORの1stデモにも収録されている#2、疾走する正統派ヘヴィメタル#3他、現在の彼女の魅力を様様な形で具現化した楽曲も粒揃い。所々に出てくる
「和」を強くアピールする部分に関しては正直こっぱずかしく感じる人もいるかもしれませんが、あくまでも世界をターゲットとした戦略の一環ということで納得しましょう。「METALIUMの来日に同行しての凱旋帰国ライヴ決定！」なんてことが1日も
早く実現するよう、ここはぜひ国内盤をGETしましょう。これだけの作品を届けてくれた以上、我々日本人は全力でバックアップしなきゃ嘘でしょう。WELCOME BACK!! SAEKO!!!

日本で売るために海外の有名アーティストにプロデュースしてもらい、
プロモーションの一つにしている気がします。
それがパフォーマンスにしか感じられないのが残念。

せっかく歌唱力があるのに、個性として引き出してもらえてないのか、
歌が前面に出てないのも気になりました。
