当時は知る由も無かったが、私が前期必殺というものに虜になるきっかけとなった作品です。私は当時中学生。正規放送していた新・必殺仕事人を毎週楽しみに見ていた。が、同時に再放送されたこの仕業人を見たときは、ひっくり返らんばかりに驚いた。何なんだ、これは!!!
救い難いようなストーリーの連発。琥珀色の画面に漂ううっそうとしたやるせなさと、これにこわいぐらいにマッチしているBGMの数々。
登場する殺し屋、カラカラに乾いた剣之介と、やいとやの病的なアクの強さは言うに及ばず、間違いなくシリーズ中最高にムサい主水の、殺し屋としての生き様、その凄まじさに圧倒される。続けて正規放送されていた仕事人III。最高視聴率を記録したが、殺陣のディテール以外何も無い軽薄そのものの内容を、実に白々しく見ていたことを同時に思い出します。「新・必殺仕置人」「必殺商売人」のDVD化も期待です。

待ってました！仕業人は必殺シリーズで１番好きなシリーズです。後にも先にもない作品全体を重く包んでいる空気・・・観ているこっちが息苦しくなるくらいです。また主水もオヤジ臭さ爆発で人間味に溢れています。なお仕置人シリーズをご存知の方は一層仕業人の最終回の意味が理解しやすいものになると思います。とにかくなにもかもが異質異色です。人の世の無常・絶望・救い無さ全開・刹那的な愛ｅｔｃがお好きな方はお手にとってみてはいかがでしょうか？初見の方は「こんなの主水じゃない」と嘆く恐れがあります。

仕置料は５両。１両ずつ分けて余った１両は仕事を取ってきた者が取る、という判り易くもシビアなシステムで、後期必殺における「明らかに危険な殺人を請け負うには馬鹿馬鹿しい小銭」や金ですらない子供の玩具（独楽）など甘っちょろい頼み料で仕事をする仕事人とは違ったドライな仕業人。なんといっても、やいとや又右衛門（大出俊）のキザで嫌味で金にウルサく、女ったらしで腕っ節が弱い（！）、しかも占いオタクなキャラは最高。この頃の主水と（グループ内での立場が）互角の殺し屋達のなんと輝いていたこと！勿論シリーズ中、屈指のムサい主水もカッコイイっす。牢屋見廻り同心に格下げという設定は、後期の長屋や橋の番人といった悪ノリし過ぎの左遷より遙かに惨めさが滲み出てましたね。
