1980年代から20年以上にわたってシーンのど真ん中で活躍し続けてきたブライアン・アダムスの約6年ぶり11作目のスタジオ・アルバム。ほぼ全曲が、過去2年間のヨーロッパ・ツアー中に書かれ、身の回りの出来事や感じたことなどストーリー性の高い楽曲が中心となっている。レコーディングの大部分は、ホテルで行われ、タイトル『ルーム・サービス』はそれを反映したものだそう。全盛期を彷彿とさせるブライアン節（サウンド）が復活し、ベテランならではの余裕とコクのあるヴォーカルと相まって味わい深いアルバムに仕上がっている。

オリジナルアルバムとしては「ON A DAY LIKE TODAY」から６年ぶりとなるこの「ROOM SERVICE」。本人が自分のルーツに還って作成したと言うとおり、最高傑作とも言われる「RECKLESS」の各楽曲を髣髴とさせる名曲が並んでいる。先行シングル「Open Road」はあの「Run To You」を思わせるギターのカッティングから始まるドライブ感たっぷりのロックンロール。アーチストとしてのピークは過ぎてしまったと言われ続けてきたブライアン・アダムスにとって、このアルバムは新たな金字塔となるだろう。

最近のアルバムはピンと来なかったのだが、
ここに来て彼の持ち味が存分に発揮される快作が出た。
こういう奇をてらわないロックンロールこそ、彼によく似合う。
このアルバムの場合、個別にオススメ曲を挙げるのは意味がないと思う。
録音時間が長いことをウリにする「超大作」が多い中、
あえて３９分という時間の中に、今の彼の全てを詰め込んだという印象。
一気に聴けて、またすぐに聴きたくなる。
疾走感あふれる痛快な作品だと思います。

先日、１５年ぶりにバンクーバーを訪れたら街はブライアンに染まっていました。　ん~ん、彼のホームタウンで新作をゲットできたなんて、長年の縁かもしれない。　運良く一足先に新曲を聴けたのだから・・・　相変わらずのあの声とブライアンらしいメロディーに思わず２０年程前にタイムスリップしそうでした。　バラード色が強かった前作に比べて、以前からの微妙な＜かっこいいけどダサい＞感じが帰ってきました。　今回も多くの楽器をブライアンが担当しているのですが、ベースのデイブの名前が見られないのはちょっと残念。　その上、全曲２分半から４分程度のタイトな仕上りでダレてないのはうれしいが、もっと聴きたい！　こんなに待ったんだから・・・
