Its a shame when a good label folds up and calls it a day, but when a great record joins the ranks of what record collectors have dubbed "OOP" (out of print) before its had a proper chance to run its coursewell, thats just criminal. At least, thats how we here at Small Stone feel about Acid Kings should-have-been classic Busse Woods. Almost an hour of bone rattling, ultra low end, fuzzed out psychedelic stoner rock. Not the stoner rock that MTV and Rolling Stone were hyping as the next big thing a few years back this is the stoner rock that fat, hairy guys who work on the line and drink PBR until four in the morning talk about having seen before anyone knew who they were.
Acid King is stoner rock. Formed in January of 1993, Acid King hit the San Francisco club circuit, scoring opening slots for some killer shows with The Melvins, Sleep, Hawkwind and The Obsessed. Sympathy For The Record Industry put out their debut EP and first full length before they landed on Koziks Mans Ruin Records for a handful of splits and the original release of the seminally underrated Busse Woods. Now, after painstaking remastering, Busse Woods returns from the land of cut-outs and price gouging on eBay, sounding louder, fatter and better than it ever has before complete with updated artwork and two unreleased tracks! This, however, is only the beginning. The band is currently finishing up work on their first new full-length in several years with legendary SF engineer Billy Anderson and, from what weve heard of the rough mixes, its gonna be sick. So whet your appetite for rocknroll destruction with Busse Woods and keep your eyes open for the new Acid King album!
