Album Details

Japanese pressing of the Soft Machine founder's 2004 compilation, packaged in a limited edition miniature LP sleeve. This is the first real definitive collection featuring 17 of Roberts greatest all-time solo material recordings to date and includes the much sought after and requested Shipbuilding which has never previously been on an album and has only been available as part of the E.Ps box set. Also includes his only other hit single from 1974 - Im A Believer.

ロバート・ワイアットのソロ活動における日本独自企画のベストアルバム。
ジャケットはロバート・ワイアットの6歳児の頃のイラストを基にしたもの。
選曲は音楽雑誌ストレンジ・デイズ。現在入手困難なシングル曲も含まれている。

以上が商品特徴。普段、日本独自企画盤は買わない自分だがコレは良いです。

ちなみに｢初回限定紙ジャケット｣だが、それはメーカーによると｢紙ジャケットで初回生産して、プラケースでの販売予定は無い｣とのこと。つまりこのCD自体が限定盤。
欲しい方はお早めに。

すばらしい、の一言。ロバート・ワイアットのベスト盤を聴けるなんて夢にも思いませんでした。
個人的には、"Nothing can stop us"収録のChicの名曲"at last I am free"が入っていて感激！
このロバート・ワイアット版の"at last I am free"はテレビドラマのエンディング・テーマにしたら
ヒットしそうだと思いませんか？
聴くべし！

何という贅沢なアルバムだろう。
初めて彼の音楽に触れる方、ぜひこの一枚でロバート・ワイアットの世界に
どっぷりと浸って欲しい。
この独自の世界を築き上げたいま、この人を語るのにもうソフトマシーンの
名を持ち出す必要もないだろう。

崇高なまでの美しさのなかに、まるで切れかけた糸を手繰り寄せるかのよう
な危うさを秘めた歌声。
どんな楽曲をやろうが、この歌声によって、決してぶれることのない確固と
した世界観を構築してしまう。
そんな孤高のアーティストとしての姿が、コステロ、ポール・ウェラーなど、
多くのアーティストからのリスペクトを生み出す背景になっているのだろう。

コステロの手による永遠の名曲“Shipbuilding ”、内省的なリリシズムに
満ちた“Sea Song”、サラリと軽快な“I'm A Believer”などなど・・・
その他にも渋い選曲で、文句無しのお得な一枚。
