原作はホセ・ルイス・オライソラ。荒野に夫の棺を見てたたずむ｢女王ファナ」の絵はプラド美術館別館に飾られている。映画は歴史的建造物をそのまま使用し、多くの絵画から忠実にセットを起こした。1496年スペイン王国唯一の相続人となるファナは、ハプスブルク家の美男王フェリペ（フランドル公国皇子）と結婚。彼女の祖母、ポルトガル王女も狂人であったと伝えられるが、ファナも夫の浮気と早死にのため狂女と化し、29歳から75歳までトルデシーリャス修道院に幽閉されて死去した。ヴィセンテ・アランダ監督はファナの情熱あふれる人生の前半のみを絢爛豪華に描いている。日本人から見た場合、性的描写をはじめとして何もかも過激だが、スペインでは「ゴヤ賞」を受賞している。

彼女を狂女とし、夫たる国王と議会が彼女を女王の座から引きずり降ろそうとする場面が最も印象的だった。彼女の威厳。これを主演のデ・アジャラが実に見事に演じきっている。また、フィリップ美公役の、ダニエレ・りオッティの美貌！！！冒頭の両者の対面場面から、情熱のシークエンスが始まる。最初はレンタルで見たのだが、即購入を決意した。「狂」という文字を冠するに足る作品である。見事。

ファナのフェリペとの結婚から死別までの短い期間が主な内容。
映像は大変美しい！
内容的には「もう終わり？ファナの幽閉初期も見せて~！」と、感じました。
あっさり終わっちゃうんだもの(T_T)
撮影に実際にファナが存在した城などを利用したそうで、衣装その他、歴史興味も満足させてくれます☆
メイクもいい☆

この監督の他の作品も見てみたくなりました(^^)
