ノリに乗ってるな~といった感じ。
正直荒削りだが『踊れるロック』を確立したかの様な1stを聞いた時、
これ以上はない、というか、次回作は絶対これ以上のものは無理、と感じた。
もっと言ってしまえば、たいしたことのない次作なら出ない方がマシと。
でも今作を聞いてそれがまったくの杞憂であることを思い知った。
まったく落ち着いてもいないし、グルーブが死んでもいない。
完全に前作より一回りも二回りも上を行ってしまっている。
とにかく耳に残るメロディーを心がけたと言う1や、
先行シングルとして登場した2、さらには終盤の鍵となる9など、
バンドの最大の売りである『うねり』が生きたまま、
より重圧に、濃厚に仕上げられていて、圧巻の一言。
バラードナンバーも前作ほどダルくは感じず、幅が広がったのが分かる。
ＵＫロックのひとつの到達点を示したといっても大袈裟ではない、
それほどの力作だ！

アルバムの一曲目のタイトルソングでもある「Welcome To The North」と先行シングルだった二曲目の「Freedom Fighters」で、前進する強い意志を感じる強烈なグルーヴソングをかます。
そして三曲目の「Bleed From Within」でダークな雰囲気を出しつつメロディを聞かせる。
クールなベースラインと華やかなメロディが印象的な「Breakin'」。
高速グルーヴィーソング「Cessation」。
スケールの大きさを感じさせるバラード「Fight The Feeling」。
歌っているベースラインがかっこいい「Guide」。
サビ部分のメロディが大好きな「Into The Night」。
ド派手なリフが印象的な「I Need Love」。
アルバム内で一番重たさを感じる曲「One Way In, No Way Out」。
開放感が漂ってくるスケール感溢れるメロディが印象的な「Open Your Mind」。

本当に充実した曲群である。
前にも他の記事で書いた事があるが、2ndアルバムの出来はそのバンドが生き残れるかどうかを左右する。
そういう意味で演奏力や表現力で格段の飛躍を遂げたThe Musicは本物と考えていいのだろうと思う。
おまけにまだまだ若い。
今後が楽しみすぎる。

1stと比べるとグルーヴ感がそがれている。

1、2目曲はすごく良いのにもったいない。
このプロデューサーはギタリストだから、ギターをやたらにフューチャーして、ドラム、ベースがすかすか。

ライブは行きたいけど、次の盤もプロデューサー同じだったら絶対買わない。

本人たちも近作でかなりへこんだらしい。
