1983年に放送されたロボットアニメ「光速電神アルベガス」のサウンドトラック盤。これが初CD化となる。当時すでに「ガンダムブーム」も過ぎ、“リアルロボット路線”がむしろ王道となりつつあるロボットアニメ界にあって、この「アルベガス」は意欲的に“スーパーロボット路線”の復活を目指した作品だった。シリーズ構成として「ゲッターロボ」の上原正三を迎えたことに加え、音楽に「マジンガーZ」の渡辺宙明を起用したことからも、その意図は汲み取れる。 「マジンガーＺ」あたりのフォーマットをなぞりながらも、ストリングスなどを使ってひと味違う味付けがなされているのが面白い。戦闘シーン用楽曲のグルーヴ感などはさすが渡辺サウンドといったところ。（安川正吾）

丁度スカパー東映チャンネルで放送している中、良いタイミングでの発売になりました。　放送当時は宇宙刑事とかも担当していた時期なのに、こうやって劇中曲をキチンとやっていた渡辺先生のパワーは凄いものです。　ファンなら曲の調子がわかっているので、２０年前のアニメの物と「いっても時代を感じさせなくなる不思議。
レコードの曲編成は、業務用の曲ナンバーが付き、この方が聞く側はわかりやすいし作曲の意図が判るので好ましいです。　音源はマルチ録音ではなくモノラルですが、楽器の編成はマァマァ大きいです。弦も入っているし（ギャバンとかと同じ扱い？）。　ただSFと言うことからか、シンセの比重が更に多くなっています。
アルベガス・レザリオンが出たのに、ダイラガーが今回発売されなかったのが残念でした。

アナログ盤発売から21年！CD化は正直諦めていただけに今回のリリースは実に嬉しい。
追加曲が無いのが惜しまれるが、アナログ盤の時点で殆どの曲は収録済みだったので、さほど文句はない。
モノラル録音なのが実に惜しまれるが、アニメの合体ロボット物に対して既に成功していた宇宙刑事の手法を取り入れ

小編成とはいえストリングスを効果的に使ってスピード感を出している。
特に、発進シーンと合体シーンの燃えぶりは最高！この2曲の為に買って絶対損無し！

本作はBGMが目茶目茶良い反動か、挿入歌はいまいち。ヒット曲集が出ていれば当然のように「ゴリロボの歌」とかも入ったんだろうに。とはいえ、ことBGMに関しては文句のない完成度。近年の「ゴーダンナー」であえてこの時期の楽曲の再現を狙っているように思えるが、聞き比べてみればどちらに勢いがあるかは明白。最近宙明先生のファンになった人も買って損無し。「レザリオン」もセットで。
