いままでのグリーンディのアルバムの中で1番完成度が高く、1番素敵です。
ウェイクミーアップホウェンセプテンバーエンズなんて泣けます。パンクで泣けます。その事実に泣けます。
もちろん気分がハイになる曲もありますし、考えさせられる歌詞も多いし、一枚で色々なことを学べます。
お安くなっているようですし、ぜひあなたのコレクションに加えて下さい。

アメリカを代表するハ゜ンクハ゛ント゛の最新作。彼らの出世作にしてメシ゛ャーテ゛ヒ゛ュー作である「Dookie」がリリースされたのが1994年なので、初めて彼らの音を聞いてから10年が経過したことになる。当時、高校生だった私は、Pistolsをはじめとした所謂London Punkに傾倒していたので、正直、彼らに対して拍手喝采を送るには至ってなかったと思う。

メシ゛ャー３枚目の「nimrod」から３ヒ゜ースのハ゛ント゛に留まらない音楽性を打ち出し始め、続く「Warning」で彼らはテ゛ヒ゛ュー時のイメーシ゛からの脱却を果たした。

本作は、ロックオヘ゜ラ形式に挑んだ意欲作で、同時多発テロ以降のアメリカ社会が「St.Jimmy」なる登場人物を介して描かれている。アルハ゛ム全体をひとつのコンセフ゜トが貫くことにより得られた整合感は、若さを武器に高いテンションで一気に作りあげられた１st以来で、本作を傑作たらしめている。彼らの存在無くして、今日のPunk Rockの隆盛は無かっただろう。改めて、彼らの偉大な足跡に拍手喝采を送りたい。

壮大なのにリアルに響いてくるのがこのアルバムのすごいとこ。
まあGREEN DAYってバンド自体が、どんなに有名になっても遠いなあって思わせないバンドなんですけどね。
トレの悪ふざけに笑って、ビリーの言葉に泣いて、マイクかっこいいなーって思って、こいつら最高だなってなる。
アップテンポな、キャッチーで元気一杯の曲から泣かずにはいられないバラードまで、どれもとても完成度が高く、ああグリーンデイだなあと思わせてくれる曲達です。

ビリーの泣ける歌があって、マイクとトレのすばらしい演奏があって、等身大で感情移入出来て、それでいて大きなテーマもあって・・こんなCD、好きにならずにはいられないよ。
すごくお勧めです。パンク、グリーンデイファンのみならず大勢の人に聴いてもらいたい。
