普段、彼女Toby LightmanのようなCDは全く買わないんです。
私の音楽ヒストリーはBoyzIIMenの「II」というアルバムを買った事から始まりました。中２でした。（懐かしいな。）
だから彼女のようなロック・ポップスコーナーにあるCDは買わないんです。
でもある日ネットで何気なく試聴したら…即ノックアウトでした…。
彼女の乾いた声。コブシをぐいぐい回す歌い方。彼女の作るキャッチーな曲群。どれも私の好み　ど真ん中でした。

メーカーは売るために「シェリル・クロウとローリン・ヒルの何とか」というキャッチコピーを付けていますが、さてどうでしょう。
上記二人が余り好きではない私は、購入を迷いましたよ。。。
でも買って良かったぁ~。
Tobyさんは幼い時からロックやソウル、ゴスペル等幅広く色んな音楽に触れていたそうですね。それがこのアルバムには溢れていると思います。ポップでありロックでありソウルであり、脅威のデビューCDだと思います。

どの曲もお気に入りなんですが、#4Frightenedや#9Everydayで通常の声から伸びやかにファルセットへと移行する瞬間なんて堪りません。
彼女はライブで十分実力が出せそうな方ですね。是非行ってみたいなァ。
Mary J.姐のReal Loveが大胆なアレンジとパンチのある歌声でカバー収録されてます。本家Mary姐さんVer.を超えたのでは…？と私は思いました。めちゃくちゃソウルフル♪
次回アルバムも期待大のアーティストさんです。
