   1989年以来となる新しいティアーズ・フォー・フィアーズのアルバムを手にする喜びの中に、おそらく少なくとも友人の前ではクールに見えるものを…と言う願いもまたあるのは確かだ。この作品をカクテル・パーティで流してみたら、客の眉間には皺が寄ることだろう。「Head Over Heels」で80年代を照らしたシンセ・ヘヴィな連中が、この新しい作品を作ったバンドと同じだと考える人はほとんどいないはずだ。そこが何と言ってもいい部分。リード・シンガーのローランド・オーバザルの声は絶好調で、今でも皮肉めいた部分はすべて押し殺している。彼らの音楽には憂鬱さがあるが、古い陰気さの大部分は捨てて、名人級の境地に達している。それでも、音はがらりと変わっている。昔ながらの作り込み過ぎの音は本物のギター、叩きつけるピアノ、そしてメロディーが主役のビートルズ風の感覚に変わっている。アルバム・タイトル曲と1stシングルの「Call Me Mellow」、心地よいバカラック風の「Secret World」でそれはわずかに陰が薄くなっている。ハッピーエンドを愛するすべての人は、こう気づくだろう。ティアーズ・フォー・フィアーズは仕掛けられた罠を見事によけて、長年の経験を再び洗練されたモダン・ポップに仕上げており、充分に注目する価値があると。（Tammy La Gorce, Amazon.com）

１５年前にShoutやSowingTheSeedsOfLoveを聴いて惹かれた方は、
是非聴いてみてください！　透明感がありながら、とても力強い、
メロディーの美しい曲が、また創造されています。どこか懐かしさもあります。
なんとなく明るい曲調のものは、ビートルズっぽいというか、６０年代
という雰囲気すらありますが、荘厳な感じの曲調のものは、２００４年の
TFFらしい、成熟した広がりを感じます。イイです、とても好きです。
４曲目のSizeOfSorrowなんて初聴で涙腺の奥の視床下部が
直接ビブラートしています。聴くたびにハマっていきます。
３０代前後の若き頃にラジオのヒットチャートを駆け上っていくShoutなど
を聴き、レンタル・レコードでテープにコピーしてたTFFファンの期待には
十分に応えている作品だと思います。初めての方でも、日産のCMでShoutを
聴いたりして聴き始めた方でも、Shoutっぽい曲もあり、楽しめると思います。

　このアルバムは期待してた以上に完成度の高い内容で、改めてＴＦＦのアーティストとしての才能を見せつけられたと同時に、カート　スミスの存在がいかに大きいものであるかも再認識させられた。彼が再び加わることによって、良い意味で重くなり過ぎずポップな面がぐっと押し出された。ローランド、カート、二人の音楽的バランスが最高の形となってクオリティの高い作品を完成させた！ザ　ビートルズの中、後期あたりを好む人にはこのアルバムはおすすめ。ジャケットもいい。

やはり2人そろって初めてTFFなんだなと改めて実感するアルバムです。
美しいメロディラインを中心に見事なアレンジが施されています。
ローランドのソロプロジェクト時代も聞き続けていましたがローランドのロックセンスとカートのポップセンスが融合すると斯くも見事な作品に昇華するのかと感動しきりです。
買うべし！
