１９７２年か７３年だかのキネマ旬報ベスト１０で確か３位という高い評価を受けていた作品ですが、今では忘れられた名作になってしまいました。　バリバリの社会派映画ながら、恋あり、アクションあり、家族のふれあいあり、と、なかなか盛りだくさんです。でも、確かに今見ると、さすがに古色蒼然たる印象は否めません。

でも、こういう雰囲気のヨーロッパ映画って（なぜかやたらにソフトフォーカス・フィルターを使ったショットが多用されます）、確かに７０年代にはよくありました。懐かしさを味わいたい方にはお勧めです。　エンニオ・モリコーネ作曲の、美しいノスタルジックなオープニングが泣かせます。　それから、どの場面が特にいい、というわけではないのですが、全編にわたって、光と影の絶妙のコントラストをいかしたカメラが秀逸です。
デジタルリマスターなのに、フィルムの保存状態が悪いらしく、バチバチッと、白い傷が入ります。値段が安いのはそのせい？
