アコースティックギターの味をポップミュージックでこれほどうまく活かせている人って意外と少ない気がします。「Fools Like Me」を初めて聴いたのはレコード店の試聴コーナーでしたが、名曲ステイを彷彿させるあたたかでどこか懐かしい楽曲に、時間が止まったように聴き入ってしまいました。人生で時折必要な音楽だと、思います。

デビューから変わらぬ、音数の少ないシンプルなスタイル。
今回もポップな曲とちょっとネガティブな曲が半々。
特にピアノで切々と歌う「Try」が印象的です。
いつものメガネでアコギのリサにホッとさせられるでしょう。
部屋聴きが心地よいこの頃。

「YOUR SELL-BY-DATE EXPIRED,YOU HAD TO BE SOLD(お前の販売最終期限は終わったぜ、お前は売れなきゃいけなかった).」(マリリン・マンソンの「(s)A’INT」より) 「YOU ARE THE LEADER OF ALL OF US,THE PERFECT FALL(あなたは私たちすべての完璧な転落のリーダー).」(リサ・ローブ) このアルバムはインディー・レーベルに落ちてしまった彼女の、全米初登場ナンバー1を記録したマリリン・マンソンに対する敗北感と諦念が描かれている。また、同じ95年にデビューしたアラニス・モリセットとリサ・ローブの、マリリン・マンソンの罠へのはまり方を比較するのも楽しい。キーワードは「裸」の婉曲語法です。
