映画を観た印象を素直に言うなら、「ショーシャンクの空に」を目指していたのに、
途中でわけのわからないことになってしまった作品、という感じです。
観初めて３０分くらいは、しまったかなぁ…と思っていました。
しかし、神は私を見捨てなかった！
　恐らく、この作品を手に取られる方の殆どが、
私同様トニー・レオン氏目当てでありましょう。
とてもよい表情のアップが盛沢山です。
話がサクサク進むので、囚人仲間とは早々に仲良くなるため、
笑顔も意外に多いのです。これだけでも観る価値あり！　
ただし、ご注意いただきたいのは犬のお好きな方！　
国の食文化の違いでありますが、愛犬家の方には絶えがたい事件がございます。　
はっきりと語られないんですが、バレバレなのです。ご覧にならない方がよろしいかと…　
（首謀者がトニー氏なんですよね…）

この映画の製作年１９９７年は、トニー・レオンが「ブエノス・アイレス」
に出た年でもあり、アート系映画と同時にこういう商業作品も世に出てしまう
ところが香港らしい、事情があるにせよ好きだなーと思いますが…それにして
もどうして受けたんだろう？とやっぱり思う映画です。
　わたしは特に熱烈なファンではないのですが「いじめられる顔がいいから」
と監督がトニーを抜擢したというのはわかります。確かに身体検査あり、悲鳴
あり、殴る蹴るあり、シャワー中危険な目に遭い…と、家族で観るより夜中に
コッソリ一人で観た方が良さそうなシーンも多いです。

　が、これ結局「塀の中の懲りない面々」でした。
　ヤクザの罠にはまり、刑務所に入れられてしまう新聞記者のトニーが、絶望
しながらも徐々に囚人たちの信頼を集め、皆で団結し…と中盤からは期待と裏
腹にほのぼのしていきますし、なんか中途半端かな。でも役に階級意識を持た
ない姿勢は本当に尊敬できます。

欧米版のを先に観ていたの大筋は同じ様ですが痛めつけられるトニーを観るのが辛いです。
