ブランドについて

 音波電動方式の歯ブラシを世界で初めて開発したアメリカのOptiva（オプティバ）社。シアトル郊外の自然豊かな町を本拠地とし、創業者のD・ジュリアーニは1980年代からワシントン大学で教授たちと製品化の研究を進めた。90年代から発表した製品はハイテク歯ブラシの先駆けとなった。
   アメリカでは歯科医の定番とされているSonicare（ソニッケアー）製品の特徴は、ソニックテクノロジーという特許技術。ブラシの毛先を毎分3万1000回、超高速振動させて音波を出し、ブラシの幅広い振幅運動との相乗効果で液体流動力を発生させるしくみだ。これによってブラシが直接当たる部分だけでなく、周辺の歯垢まで浮かせて除去する。エリートシリーズに代表される同社の製品全般に、この技術が生かされている。
   現在Optiva社はPhilips（フィリップス）社と業務提携し、現在Sonicareブランドの製品はPhilips社の元で製造、販売されている。

以前はこの歯ブラシの8列の物を使っていたのですが、小さめの5列に変えてみました。磨きやすいの一言です。大きいと奥歯が磨きにくかったのですが、それが一気に解消されました。小さくなった分時間は今までよりかかるようになりましたが、丁寧に磨けているような気がします。
前歯の裏側を一本ずつ縦に磨いていたのですが、小さいのに変えてからは、歯と歯茎が一緒に磨けなくなってしまいました。それでも今までよりもずっと扱いやすくなったので、8列は、大きいと感じられる方にはお勧めです。
