懐かしい、去年のサマソニ。
最前列でペレ（vo.）の撒き散らす唾までかかりそうな距離で、僕の夏は真っ白になるまで燃え上がった…
今年その感動が再び！

って事で現時点での最新作です。
こう見えてこの人たち、作品を作るペースは遅めなので、
1997年デビューでこれがやっと３作目です（編集盤除く）。
しかし時間をかけた分、ガレージ・サウンドから更なる広がりを見せてくれています。

例えば2は初っ端からトバす割には、コーラス部分でドラムがスネアだけになり、ベースもルート弾きになります。
簡単に言えばブレイクに近い状態になるんですね。サビなのに。
先行シングル3も格好良すぎるイントロから、いい意味でリズムが走らず、
随所にエフェクト等の細かい工夫もされていて、新たな魅力を引き出しています。
また5は彼らの曲の中で最も抑揚が激しく、思わずsing-alongしたくなる、このアルバムで個人的に最も気に入っている曲です。
10も反復するリフとラテンっぽいギターソロに、ニヤリとさせられます。

あとミドル・テンポと呼べるのは8だけで（この曲もなんか…変　笑）基本的にはどの曲も速いです。
でも、ただ速いだけじゃない処に、彼らのワン＆オンリーな存在感の理由が見えると思います。

オリジナルアルバムとしては４年ぶりになるのでしょうか、相変わらずのハイテンションと、リフメイカーぶりは健在で、とても良いロックアルバムだと思います。日本では「ミッシェルガンエレファント」も解散し、シーンに以前のような熱は感じられない所はありますが、常にハイテンションなロックンロールを求めてる方や、メロコアやパンクよりもさらにエッジの効いた、クールなロックンロールサウンドを探す方には最適なアルバムだと思います。ガレージシーンに旋風を巻き起こしたと言われる以前のアルバムを未聴の方も、迷わずこのアルバムから入るのをお薦めします。しかし、こういった音楽に既に食傷感を感じてる方や、あまり尖った攻撃的な音を今は求めていない、という方にもあえてお薦めできる程の衝撃は全く感じなかったため、星は４つにしておきます。

　まさか、ハイヴスがこんなにかっこいいアルバムを作るとは思わなかった。一昨年くらいに騒がれた時に、アルバムを買ったのだけど、「悪くはないけど一本調子すぎないか」とすぐに飽きてしまった。ところが、今回は勢いはそのままにかなりキャッチ―に。先行シングルのウォーク・イディオット・ウォークのギターリフなんて、まるでザ・フーのアイ・キャント・エクスプレインみたいだ。これはガレージではなくロックンロール。
　そろそろ下火になってきたガレージリバイバル。一連のバンドに食傷ぎみの人にも、是非聴いてもらいたい。
