ボーナスディスクのUSHERとのデュエットヴァージョンには悶絶!!最高です!!けど、上に書いてる「イフ・アイ・エイント・ガット・ユー(Black Eyed Peas Remix)」は早い段階で収録中止になってるから今のトコ日本盤に限らずどこの国の盤にも収録されてないので気を付けてね☆代わりにじゃないんだろうけど「イフ・アイ・エイント・ガットユー (Spanish Version feat. Arturo Sandoval)」が収録されてるよ。最後のサビがスペイン語で唄われてて新鮮!!ボーナスディスクはコレを入れた全4曲(4ミックス)、エンハンスドでVideoが観れるよ!!(「You Don't Know~」「If I Ain't Got You」「Diary」の3曲のPV☆)

2001年に発売されたデビューアルバムは世界で1000万枚を売り上げ、その年のグラミー賞を総なめにしたことで知名度は抜群なのではないだろうか。そんな彼女のセカンドアルバムがこの作品だ。セカンドがリリースされるまでの間、NASやEVEへのゲスト参加や、クリスティーナ・アギレラのプロデュースなどがあったが、本格的な再開は勿論この作品から。

中身を開けてみるとビックリ。いきなりギャングスタ系のバックトラックに鬼気迫るヴァイオリンがかき鳴らされるカルマ、さらにアコースティンクなドラムとベースとギターだけで構成されたアグレッシブなTIMBALANDプロデュースのHEARTBURNで幕を開ける。デビューアルバムを知っている人にとっては、意外なはずだ。
しかし、それ以降はグラディス・ナイトのカバーに始まり、KANYE WESTの提供した名曲YOU DON'T KNOW MY NAME、自身のプロデュースによるセカンドシングルIF I AIN'T GOY YOU、そしてトニー・トニー・トニーが参加したサードシングルDIARYなどのオールドファッションなヒット曲が続く。

それ以降はアリシア・キーズらしいナンバーを演奏していくのだが、アンドレ・ハリス＆ヴィダル・ディヴィスの手がけるSO SIMPLEは微妙にハネたグルーヴナンバーになっていて異彩を放っている。
再発盤に追加されたDISC2はIF I AIN'T GOT YOUのREMIX集の内容になっていて、KANYE WESTがアリシア・キーズ本人の声を高速回転させてメインメロディを新たにキーズが歌っているREMIXや、トランペットが絡むバージョンやUSHERとデュエットするバージョンが収録されている。後、YOU DON'T KNOW MY NAMEのレゲエバージョンは雰囲気をガラリと変えて夏らしいナンバーに仕上がっている。

いやー、めちゃくちゃいいわこのアルバム。
アリシアの声はビックリするくらい魅力的で、バラードはたまらない。
私的には５，６番がダントツに好きです。ピアノの音色も綺麗。
彼女の魅力がかーなーり詰まってる作品です。
Disc２のアッシャーとの歌声もたまりません。
