イメージアルバムをオーケストラ中心にして収録しなおした作品です。そのため、映画本編の音楽（＝サウンドトラック）とは若干異なる雰囲気となっていますが、そこは久石譲さんの実力と弦の音の深さでカバー。じっくり映画の余韻に浸るにはもってこいのアルバムになっています。

ラピュタのシンフォニー編とは異なり、基本的には原曲をそのまま（長さや組み合わせを変えることなく）オーケストレーションしているので、変な期待を持って聴いてしまうと、当ての外れることにはなりますが、それでも、「風の伝説」や「鳥の人」「谷への道」を聴けば、その雄大さと深さに十分満足できると思います。

オーケストラでの作品になっています。そのため、再生装置の性能もこだわりを持つ事ができます。
各曲の内容は映画でのものと異なる部分もありますが、クラシックを聴く気分を求める場合でも、首肯の逸品でしょう。特に「風の伝説」「はるかな地へ･･･」「遠い日々」は高級オーディオでの再生が望ましい程です。
４曲目の「腐海」はシンセサイザー？らしき音から始まり、あれれ？と感じますが、そのまま聴きつづけると、有毒な腐海と腐海が最終的に行き着く清浄の地での表現が見事に表現されています。
９曲目の「谷への道」は高級オーディオで再生させると、弦のかすれ響く重厚な作品になっています。
このサントラは高級オーディオで聴く事をお勧めします。
私はこの作品のために、オーディオにリッターバイクが買える値段をかけて楽しんでいます。
その価値がある作品と言えるでしょう。
それ程に、オーケストラでの音源として見ても、厚みのある作品です。

風の谷のナウシカが好きな方にはぜひこのアルバムを聴いてほしい。
そして特に「風の伝説」を聴いてほしい。

この曲は映画ではオープニングで流れる曲を
オーケストラ用にアレンジしたものです。
風の谷のナウシカのオープニングを観て
この曲いいなあ、と思われた方には1度聴いてほしいと思います。
よりじっくりこの曲の世界を味わうことができると思います。
