ボーカリストのチャカ・カーンと聞いて、大方のまっとうなファンが思い浮かべるのは、70年代の独創的なファンク・バンド、ルーファスのリード・シンガーとしての姿だ。でなければ、プリンスのポップなヒット曲「I Feel for You」のノリのいいカバーで80年代の一時期に話題をさらったR&Bシンガーとしての姿だろう。しかしながら、ここ数年間のカーンはジャズへの関心も示してきた。この60分間のライヴ・パフォーマンスで、彼女は昔懐かしいジャズ・スタンダードを取り上げ、いつもとは一味違った多才ぶりを見せつけている。この夜、カーンはまず優秀なバンド（残念ながらクレジットなし）にウォーム・アップをさせ、インスト曲「Dark Secret」でそれぞれソロを取らせた。これがショー全体の基調を決定づけたと言える。その後、ようやくカーンがステージに登場。しかし、最初のうちはやや調子が整わない。「Them There Eyes」など、始終ためらいがちでナーバスな歌い方だ。それでも、「My Funny Valentine」が始まる頃になると、本来のペースが戻ってくる。短いながらも徹底して楽しませてくれるコンサートであり、カーンは歳月を経ても独特の声が健在であることを折に触れてアピールしまくる。その声の張りときたら、相変わらず誰にも引けを取ってはいない。ところで、ジャズ愛好家ならば、チャカ・カーンのファンでなくともこのショーに興味をそそられるはず。理由は単純、バンドが圧倒的に素晴らしいからだ。ベースやホーンの演奏が、カーンの歌声以上の輝きを見せることも多い。誤解なきように言っておくが、本作でのカーンは好演だ。ただ、バンドがそれ以上に好演なのである。（Dave McCoy, Amazon.com）
