永遠の青年ポール・ウェラー兄貴のカバー・アルバム。
ソロになってからカバー曲を結構演ってるのですが、
カバー・アルバムとしては自身初めて。
唄では相変わらずのポール・ウェラー節を聴かせてくれますが、
何といっても出色なのは選曲です。
もっとソウル中心になってもよさそうですが、
色々なジャンルを取り上げていますし、それらがいずれもマッチしています。
レギュラー・アルバムもこれから楽しみですが、
たまにはこういったカバーも定期的に出して欲しいですね。

渋い!　かといって、けして重いわけではない。
カロミがある。ポップである。
カバー曲集では、あるけれど　オリジナルっていわれても
不思議でないくらいに、彼のスタイルに馴染みきっている。

粋な大人の集まる盛り場にあう洒脱な音楽。
ガキには　ちょいとばかし　遠慮してもらおうか

5,10　辺りが特に良い。

すごく気に入っています。もう1曲目からがんがん惹きつけられます。カヴァー集と言ってもさすがにPaulです。みんなが知っているような
曲はあまりないところが。"Close to You"はこのアルバムの発売前から、えーっ、いったいどんな風になってるの？と思ってたけど、Carpentersのよりずっと好きなアレンジです。さすがです。個人的にはGil Scott Heronを取り上げてくれていて感激しました。
Paulのアルバムはどれもそうですが、ただ時間を埋めるためだけの「捨て曲」はないのです。ライヴを見ても思うけど、彼って本当に音楽を
愛していますね。そういう人は実はプロの中でも少ない気がします。

その真摯な態度が、何十年もファンを惹きつけるのでしょう。これからもずっとずっと活躍してね。そして次は単独で来日してね！絶対出席するから！！！
