90年代を代表するハードロックバンドのベストアルバム。
各アルバムから代表曲を網羅し、年代順に並べられています。
価格的にもまずこのバンドを知る最初のアルバムとしてお薦めです。

このバンドの魅力は、T1(1st収録),T6(2nd収録),T11(3rd収録)に代表される超絶演奏テクニックと、T5,9(2nd収録)のような親しみやすい楽曲、そしてエモーショナル・ソウルフルなボーカルがうまく融合したところにあるのではないでしょうか。
途中ギタリストの交代がありましたが、このバンドの魅力が十分に発揮されているのは初代ギタリスト、特に1stから3rdアルバム(T1-12)の頃だと思います。

参考までに曲と各収録アルバムは、
　　1st「MR.BIG」から T1-3
　　2nd「Lean Into It」から T5-9
　　3rd「Bump Ahead」から T10-12
　　4th「Hey Man」から T13
　　5th「Get Over It」から T14,15
　　6th「Actual Size」から T16,17
となっています。

曲数の制限がありますのでベストアルバムの選曲は難しいですが、96年発表のベストよりもツボを押さえた選曲になっていると思います。あちらのCDは新曲やボーナストラック等で散漫な印象がありましたので...（本アルバムT4.Strike Like Lightningも目立った曲ではないと感じますが。過去の映画サントラ提供の曲だったと記憶しています）。

本アルバムで気に入った曲があれば各スタジオアルバム・ライブアルバムも是非聴いてほしいです。特にライブ盤では彼らの魅力が一層楽しめます。このベストアルバムはMR.BIGの聞き始めのCDとしてお薦めします。

MR.BIGのベストアルバムとしてはどちらかというとBIG, BIGGER, BIGGESTの方がお勧めしやすい。リッチー・コッツェン加入後のMR.BIGも決して悪くはないが、このバンドを語る上で絶対に欠かせない名曲「To Be With You」「60'S Mind」「Daddy, Brother,~」などはほとんどポール・ギルバート在籍時の楽曲である。

ただ、上手くツボを押さえた選曲ではあるし、なにより「ストライク・ライク・ライトニング」に心惹かれて買ったファンは多いのでは？私自身もその一人である。
前回のベスト以降にリリースされたアルバムからは「Shine」「Super Fantastic」などが収録されており、こちらもメロディーラインが綺麗で聴きやすい曲だ。
