このリマスター盤は残念ながらオリジナル盤より音は良くないです。今風の音かもしれませんが低音が強調されすぎでメガデスならではのカチッとした整合感が失われてしまっています。当然オリジナル盤なら☆5つです。

　溜めこんだ怒りを一気に放電するようなギターリフ、ダイレクトに耳に突っ込んでくるギターソロ。引き締まったドラム。足腰の強いベース。そして悪そうなボーカルの歌い方。このアルバムの印象だ。

　　所謂スラッシュ・メタルは、メガデスの他メタリカ・アンスラックス・スレイヤーを合わせて四天王と呼ばれているが、デヴ・ムスティン（中心メンバーＧ＆Ｖ）は「インテレクチュアル・ヘヴィ・メタル」と言ってましたね。他のスラッシュ・メタルとはちょっと一線を画していました。このデイヴ・ムスティンはかつてメタリカの初期メンバーで、デヴュー直前脱退しています。メタリカのギター・リフのスタイルを自分で作り上げたと言っており、実際にメタリカの初期のアルバムにはクレジットされている曲があります。

　その後、デヴィット・エレフソン（Ｂ）とメガデスを結成し、他のメンバーを変えながら活動を続けていました。１９８２結成・１９８５デビュー、それ以来５作目が本作。

　始めて聴いたときは本当に驚いた。ジャーマンやブリティッシュ、アメリカン、サザンロックはしっていたが、スラッシュは始めてだった。スコーピオンズ（ジャーマン）のエッジの効いたギターリフとは異なりますが、切れ味というか、バチバチって放電したあとの余韻が本当にスラッシュしていた。

今は全くメタルやハードロックは聞いてませんが、このアルバムの１曲目は今でも聞きたい！って思うことがよくあり、そういうときは当然聞きながらへッドバンキングしてます（笑）
