実写映画版に準じたキャラクター配置で始まった新生ハニー。
しかし映画の話の続編という訳ではなく、新たに始まるストーリーとして描かれている。
オープニング＆エンディングのキャストクレジットに“キューティーハニー（５代目）／堀江由衣”と表示されているのが面白い（初代＝旧作TVアニメ、２代目＝OVA版・新ハニー、３代目＝少女向けTV版・ハニーF、４代目＝実写劇場版…に続く５代目という意味）。
魚眼レンズで見たような極端にパースのついた作画や、瞳が大きく幼い感じに描かれたキャラ、やたら頬に出る赤い恥じらいのタッチ等々、全体的には今流行の「萌え系アニメキャラ」の絵柄になっているような気がするが、アバンギャルドでシュールな背景や旧TVシリーズを意識した音楽と相まって、なんとかキューティーハニーらしさを醸している。元々が有料チャンネル向けに作られた作品だけに、作画・動きともに一定以上のレベルは保たれていると言えるだろう。
パッケージ内には設定資料やスタッフインタビューを掲載したカラー８ページのブックレットを同梱。クオリティは高いアニメなので見てハズレ感は少ないいはず。

とにかくハニーのプリプリが見たい方には間違いなくおすすめ！
でも力が入ってるのはそこだけなんであとは結構スカスカですよ。
ハニー好きにはたまらなく、その他の人には何だこれ？って感じなので、
そこんところは気をつけてね！

「天の巻」「地の巻」「人の巻」と、３本まとめて見ましたが、
１巻目「天の巻」に至っては、１作目のTV放送当時のポップなイメージを
今風にリメイク、OPへのつなぎ方も大変テンポが良く、
私の中での好感度は高かったです。
残念なことに、なんといっても最大の魅力、
ハニーの七変化（だっけ？）が見られるのはこの巻だけです…。
歴代「ハニー」の中では、１番好きだなと思いましたが、
45分の長さのせいか、若干ストーリーのテンポが悪いですね…、
それもご愛嬌で許せる範囲かな（笑）

さておき、「地の巻」「人の巻」と進むにつれ、
ガイナックス臭さがプンプンしてきます、
ガイナックスファンへのサービスなのか知りませんが、
スタッフのオ○ニープレイのような感じもあって
「もう、そんなエヴァ風味な展開はいいよ…。」と呆れてしまいましたが、
コレクターとしては買い！でしょうか…。
私は「天の巻」しかいりません。
