　音質、というよりは音の質感。いや、一緒か。とにかく1曲目の立ち上がりから、急に部屋の雰囲気を一変させるくらい深い音にまずびっくり。

　もちろん名手達の腕は今回も冴え渡っている。深いピアノの音も称賛に値するが、個人的にガッドとアンソニーのリズム・セクション。小難しいことはひとつもしていないのに異常なまでに繊細に感じるこの不思議。そしてフィービー・スノウだ。こんなに朗々とした声だったっけ？

　欲を言えば、このＣＤ全体が年齢を足したものにしか醸し出せない味わいがある、ということは少々溌刺とした新鮮さはない、若々しさみたいなのがないというだけ。ジャケットを含め、芸術品。

Will&Rainbow（Will Boulware）の2ndアルバム。
紙ジャケのジャケット写真は爽やかなフュージョンっぽくって
薄味な音を連想させるけど、なかなか奥の深い、いいアルバムです。

ちょっと、楽器弾き練習者の観点から感想するとこんな↓感じ。

Vocalでフィービ・スノウが参加、カサンドラ＋ボズ・スキャグスの
ような、鋼の冷たさとくぐもったにせ黒さが加わって、前作のインスト
とはまたひと味違った味わいがあります。
1stは、ガッドのタイコにウィル・リーのベースだったのが、この
2ndでは、ガッドとアンソニー・Jに変更。
伴って、元気はつらつぅ感が減った代わりに意固地な学者のこだわり
（褒め言葉）が増してます。これが奥深いんです。

いわゆる4ビートの曲が多いんですが、ガッドがスネアのブラシ叩きで
グルーブを作っていて、これが絶妙のノリと微細さを出してます。
ほとんどフィルなしでメシのみなのに、必要十二分なニュアンス。
金物の重ったるい感じはまるでなく、不気味なくらい前に前に安定して
押し出してきます。
これは（一聴は地味だけど）凄いと思います。
タイコが16打ちの4ビートを叩いてるためか、AJ先生のベースが4ビート
系にしては珍しく4分音符に徹していなくて、レイキングだのシンコ
だのを入れてバッキングしてる点もベース弾きの観点からは興味深い
です。

とても馴染みやすいアルバムだと思います。
特に、最後の「Kentucky」は、何度聴いても涙が出そうになります。
幸せな気持ちのときはそれをより豊かにしてくれて、へこんでいる時や寂しいときは元気付けてくれる1枚です。
