吉田美奈子はユリ科である。
ヤマユリのような荘厳さとユーチャリスの気品、清らかな心といったイメージ。
それは『扉の冬』での、高音に伸びがある素直な歌唱に感じたことだが、７年の歳月はその声にふくらみと自在の表現力を与え、やや力を抜いた歌唱に万感の思いを込める事が出来るプロの歌手になった。
このアルバムでの美奈子のイメージは白い薔薇である。
心からの尊敬と称賛を貴女に贈ろう。
この作品ははそれほどのアルバムである。

岡沢章のベースと渡嘉敷祐一のドラムス。そして名手にして鬼才、松木恒秀のギターが彼女の歌に寄り添う。
そう、寄り添うような演奏である。
私は岡沢は日本で３本の指に入るベーシストだと思うが、松木のギターは歌伴のギターでは最高峰だと評価している。
このアルバムでの松木のプレイは特に素晴らしいものだ。
決して弾きまくるわけではなく、少ない音数で最大の効果を上げる彼の奏法は歌心溢れるものだ。
美奈子の素晴らしい歌唱とともに松木の良さが出た楽曲である２『RAINY DAY』、４『SUNSET』
そして名曲揃いのアルバムの中で最上級の美しさの８『午後（Afternoon）』は美奈子の原点であるピアノ弾き語りがベースだが、荘厳なコーラスと清水靖晃のSAXソロからの後半部の盛り上がりが素晴らしい。

やはり美奈子には晩秋から冬がよく似合う。

きっと歌がうまいとはこういうものを言うのがただしいのでしょう。音を出すのがうまいのとは違う何かが伝わってくる名盤です。特に2は山下バージョンと聞き比べていただきたいと思います。個人的にはラストの「午後」がおすすめ。簡単な曲ほどプロ歌手にとっては怖いし、その反面、歌い甲斐もあるということが良くわかります。

この再発がアーティストの意思が尊重されているものかどうか、リマスタリングが施されていると発売元がコメントしていると聞いているが果たしてどの程度のレベルなのかもわからない。しかし今はただこの一連のAlfa音源がCCCDフォーマットではない形で再発され、ここにレビューを書くことができることを喜びたい。

クールかつファンクネスな名盤。

M-1のダイナミクスは圧巻。圧倒的なコーラスと演奏から浮き上がってくるボーカル。マイニエリのバイブ、岡沢章のベースソロが聴き物。
