   音数はむしろ減ってるし、音圧も下がっている気がするのだが、聴く者の身体を揺り動かすヴァイブスと日常に潜む歪んだ狂気を浮かび上がらせるソングライティングは完全にレベル・アップ。バンドの持つポテンシャルが（ようやく）音源として刻み込まれつつあることを告げるメジャー・セカンド・アルバム。特に印象的なのは、懐かしくてちょっぴりダサいメロディ・ラインと、諦念すれすれの怒りに満ちたヴォーカル。そこには、繰り返し聞いているうちに少しずつ脳が溶けていき、頭が真っ白になってヘラヘラと踊ってしまう不思議な力が宿っている。（森 朋之）

メジャー2作目、通算3作目。前作まではニューウェイヴ色の濃いひりひりした音だったが、今回はグルーヴィなファンク・ロックが多くなり、ぶっといバンド・サウンドに変化。メロディも大半が明るいメジャー・コードで、突き抜けたような爽快感が漂う作品だ。

新譜を出すごとに、どんどんとポジティヴな世界へシフトしていくスパルタローカルズ。今回も一曲目からしてクリーンなギターと伸びていくメロディーが印象的だ。
だからといって、馬鹿みたいにハッピーハッピー言ってるかといえばそんなことはなく、アルバムの根底に流れているのは違和感、虚無感、焦燥感。

でも、確かに毎日クソみたいだけども、それだけでもないなぁ。

「退屈すぎるけど　それが嫌だって思わんし」

ナンバーガールが空けた、でっかい穴の次の段階。
リアリティの純度がキラキラ眩しいぜ。

前作「セコンドファンファーレ」は「ピース」についていたライブＤＶＤを見た後に聴いたのだが、ライブの殺人的迫力が１枚の音源として凝縮されていない感があってもったいなく思ったのを覚えている。

その点、今作は彼らの魅力が十分にアピールされているのではないだろうか。最初聴いたときは、前作と打って変わってのポップさ、それこそあまりに「ピース」な内容に戸惑い、失敗作か？とさえ思ったが、聴きこむ程に味が出てきたし、ただポップなわけではないのだなと思ってきた。やはりスパルタローカルズはスパルタローカルズだ。

この夏、何か腹立つことがあったときは「ＴＨＥ　ＣＬＵＢ」をボリューム全開にして頭揺らしながら踊ればいいと思う。
