タイトルとジャケットに騙された!!　良いほうにですけど(笑)。
確かにコメディタッチではありますが、作りや俳優陣の演技が妙に真面目。そこがまたおかしいポイントであるのですが、時代的にちょうど大日本帝国の進軍とかさなり、バックボーンはなかなかに重厚なテーマ性も持っています。
　とくにソン・ガンホはもう最高に面白い。この人真面目な顔して、コミカルな動きや、おかしい台詞を言うから絶妙に面白い。「反則王」にも共通点が多多あり、この人はこういった役が好きみたいですね。彼の演ずるキャラクターが面白く見えるのは、ベースとなる彼の才能と存在感があればこそで、やはり彼は並みの俳優ではないでしょう。ラストシーンの彼の笑顔は本当に良かった。
　それにしても、恋文って読み方によってあんなふうにも見えるのですね(笑)。見た人ならわかりますよね(笑)。

…が原題。いくらなんでもこの邦題はないのではないかと。

ソンガンホの好演に加え、伊武雅刀ら日本人俳優もいい味を出している歴史ファンタジーとして、なかなか楽しめる作品だと思うのだが、日本での劇場公開にはけっきょく至らなかったようだ。その理由はまあ、わからないでもないのだけれど、例えば野球団を広場から追い立てる日本兵の台詞などは、伊武雅刀が絡むやり取りとの対比において、むしろ必見のお笑いポイントなんだけどなぁ…。

一言で言えば、笑って興奮してスッキリ、そんな映画。ソンガンホの映画としては、「ＪＳＡ」や「シュリ」ではなく、明らかに「反則王」の括りです。

今からおよそ１００年前、韓国に始めて野球が伝わったころのお話です。
街並みや衣装など、当時の韓国の世情が垣間見れます。
ソンガンホの学士役は全然似合っていませんが、野球人というスポーツマン役は、今まで観てきた彼の作品のカラーを踏襲しています。

日本の軍人チームを相手に野球の試合をやるという設定ですが、一昔前の韓国映画ならこんな展開には作られなかったと思います。
日本人をターゲットにした作品かどうかは知りませんが、銭形平次や水戸黄門といった日本の時代劇の一シーンを思い出させるような部分は苦笑いしてしまいます。
感動的とは言いませんが、楽しい作品です。
