   工業デザイナーのパイオニア的存在として知られ、ニューヨーク近代美術館やルーブル美術館などに作品が永久保存されていることでも有名な柳宗理。“柳式デザイン”をキッチンツールやカトラリーにまで広げた製品群は、そのデザイン的な美しさはもちろんのこと、機能性においても高い評価を受けている。

   この泡立て、お茶を点てるときに使う「茶筅」をイメージする外見だが、それもそのはず、一般的な泡立てに比べて先端部のワイヤー数がまったく違う。効率的に泡立てることができると同時に、道具としての繊細な美しさも演出している。柳宗理デザインのキッチンツールとしては珍しく、柄の部分にステンレスではない材質（エラストマ樹脂）が使用されているのも、使い勝手を重視すればこその決断だろう。（櫻田もんがい）

概要
 日用雑貨、インテリアから交通システム等の環境構造物までを手がける柳宗理氏は、日本の工業デザインの権威であり、そのデザインはシンプルな中にある優しさやあたたかさが魅力。毎日使うものこそ、美しくかつ機能的でなくてはならないという「用の美」をキッチンウエアで表現。この泡立ては持ちやすさ、使いやすさを一番に考え、ハンドルにエラストマー系の素材を使用した。この素材を使用することにより、握り心地の良さと滑りにくさがアップした。また標準より短いサイズにすることにより収納性向上を図った。短いサイズは軽量化につながり、長い時間ホイップしても疲れずらくなっている。程良い重さで手に馴染む泡立てとなった。

デザイナーのコメント
 常に素材と技術と向き合いながら使い手のことを考えています。また便利さばかりを追いかけるのではなく、使い手のちょっとした努力で使いやすく長持ちする道具が出来ないかを考えています。デザインとはその結果であります。

今まで使っていた泡だて器が壊れてしまったので購入しました。
私は、柳宗理の鍋ファンなので、デザイン的に惚れ込んで選んだのでした。使ってみて気づいたのは、今まで使っていた泡だて器と、泡の立ち方が全然違うということです。
うちは、ハンドミキサーがないので、お菓子作りは、すべて手動の泡立てになり、かなり力と時間を使っています。しかし、この泡だて器は、泡が立つのが早いです。しかも、こんもりとした空気を含んだいい泡がたちます。泡だて器って、どれも同じと思っていたら、大間違いでした。

　だて巻をつくるとき、はんぺんはすり鉢ですりつぶしていましたが、最近は袋入りのまま手でつぶして、そのまま卵液に入れ、あとはこの泡立て器でシャカシャカしているうちに準備完了。ふわっと仕上がり、出来上がり断面もはんぺんの白い粒が黄色い卵に目立つことなく、毎回驚いてしまいます。
　見た目は小さめな持ち手のようですが、泡立てをするのにとてもよく、泡立ての手ごたえを感じながら楽しくシャカシャカできます。
　道具の大切さも実感できる一品です。
