　映画を見て、感動したり、声を出して笑ったり、恐怖を体験したり、世界を救うスーパーマンになったり。そういうものだと思っていました。映画というもの。　他人の人生が、そのフィルムの向こうにあるとして、でも他人のそれ以外のなにものでもない、それが映画です。
　この映画は、その「映画」としての定義から逸脱し、うねりのようなもので観客を呑み込んでしまいました。私がそれまで、どれほど愛を受けて温かく育てられてきたとしても、それは脆くも儚く、無抵抗に横たわるのみでした。
　いい映画であるという評価ではなく、ただ、ものすごい力で人を叩きのめすという意味で、私の心につよく印象をのこしています。

いつでも現実は突然であって、至福も絶望も凶気も退屈も秩序良く
同等に並んで人々が通り過ぎるのを待っている。その連続が日常であ
って悲劇も喜劇もなんのことはないただの時間の中の一コマにすぎな
い。ただすべての一コマは、それぞれ全てひとかたまりの網目の中の
相互関係にあってはじめて、その配置を決定させられているものだ。

その網目を司る代表さんの様な存在がある（いる？）のだとしたら、
それがこの映画の中でべスが自問自答の様に会話していた存在なのだ
ろうし、本来の意味での神、と呼ばれるものなのだろうと思う。
　
　この映画の作り手の目線には神は存在していない。ただ人間がいる
。起こりうる全てはプラスチックな偶然で、男達は坦々と油田を掘り
、女達は家を守りながら日々を過ごしていくだけ、のように見える。
ただ本当に世界がひとかたまりの網目の中で回り続けているのならば
、荒涼とした北欧の海の上、雲の切れ間に、荘厳なる鐘の音が響き渡
ることだって、当然の様に有り得ることだ。
　
　エピローグ、、デビットボウイの歌声はすべての生命への賛歌のよう

ラース・フォン・トリアーという監督は変態なんじゃないかと言うくらい
ヒロインを悲劇に突き落とす。
そう見せておいて、実際はヒロインは幸せで幕を閉じる。
これはこの監督が人間がいかに醜いものか知悉していて、それでも現実
の娑婆世界に心を一切汚されない人間（ヒロイン）が懸命に生き、愛す者の
為なら何も代償は要らないといった高貴な、純粋な心でいさせるからである。
彼女が愛する夫の為に払った犠牲はあまりにも大きいかも知れない。
けれども、彼女は純粋に夫を愛する気持ちからそれを受け入れる。
その対照的なのは世間の目の汚さ、意地悪さ。
純粋な心と、その心を地獄に突き落とす世間の信仰。
この監督は神を信じながら、世間の穢れた信仰への挑戦を突きつけた傑作である。
