~ジョーダンは、全盛期のチャーリー・パーカーのバンドのピアニストを務めたキャリアの持ち主ですが、モダンジャズ・シーンに美しいメロディを持った曲で貢献したピアニストといえるでしょう。クリフォード・ブラウンが取り上げた「ジョードゥ」やジャズ・メッセンジャーズが取り上げた「危険な関係のブルース」などマイナー調の美しいメロディは、一度聞いた~~ら忘れられないものです。そのジョーダンがブルーノートに残した唯一のリーダーアルバムがこの「フライト・トゥ・ジョーダン」です。そのメロディメーカーとしての才能はここでも遺憾なく発揮されていて、今現在でも彼の代表作になっています。
冒頭１曲目のアップテンポのタイトル曲で聞く者を引き込んでいきます。リースのソロも彼のベストプレイで答えま~~す。ジョーダンのピアノソロは、クリーンな透明なタッチが美しく完璧。２曲目の「スターブライト」は美しいバラード。「シ・ジョヤ」は、「ノー・プロブレム」としても知られる「危険な関係のブルース」のジョーダン自作自演の名曲。何度聞いても心にしみる名曲。これからジャズを聴く人、ジョーダンを初めて聴く人にまず聞いてもらいたいアルバムです。~

ブルーノートの数々のセッションで名サポートを聴かせたジョーダンがリーダーとして魅力を全開した1枚。代表作「危険な関係のテーマ」の別ヴァージョンである「シ・ジョヤ」を筆頭に、聴きどころ満載。

ジョーダンがブルーノートに残した名盤です。どの曲をとっても素晴らしいですが、特に、LP時代のB面だった４〜６の三曲は、続けて聴いていくと、最後の「危険な関係のブルース」のイントロで、思わず背筋がゾクゾク！っと来ます。
派手さはなく、どちらかというと枯れたわびさびの世界。日本人好みの名盤といえましょう。聴けば聴くほど味が出る、するめのようなアルバムです。
