   1905年、二百三高地の壮烈な戦いに勝利した日本軍は、日本海にてバルチック艦隊を迎え撃ち、日露戦争の勝敗を決しようとしていた。そんな折、軍楽隊隊員の神田（沖田浩之）は恋人の娼婦せつ（三原順子）の想いをふりきり、連合艦隊の旗艦・三笠に乗り込んだ…。
   舛田利雄監督が『二百三高地』『大日本帝国』に続いて手がけた東映戦争3部作の最終作。ここでは一軍楽隊隊員の目を通して、戦艦内部の兵士たちの日常や確執を描いている。クライマックスの海戦シーンも、艦内で傷つき斃れていく兵士たちの地獄絵図こそが中心となっており、たとえ勝ち戦であろうとも戦争が地獄であることを濃密に訴えている。兵士には佐藤浩市、ガッツ石松など。三船敏郎が『日本海大海戦』に続いて東郷平八郎を演じている。（的田也寸志）

最初は旗艦三笠が修理しているところから始まります。そして、主人公の音楽隊の人の心情とともに月日がたつところまではいいのですが、いよいよ日本海海戦で敵艦スワロフが沈むと残りの海戦そして終戦まで文章のたった数行で終わってしまいます。日本海海戦はどういうものかと期待してみるのはいかがかと思いますが海戦になるまでの経過はなかなか良かったです。あと全体的に反戦的となっており、なぜ戦争をしなければいけなかったにか疑問視されてしまいます。よって日本海海戦としてはふさわしくないと思い星二つにしました。

東宝の『日本海大海戦』リメイクを意識したのか、14年後に東映で制作。

旗艦三笠乗組の色男の軍楽隊手（沖田浩之）の視点から、日本海海戦を描く。
東宝のよりも、きちんと作ってあってキャラ立ちもしっかりで、映画的な映画といえる。

そういえば、「坂の上の雲」でも、元軍楽隊手河合氏の証言が
重要な位置づけで登場しており、これがヒントになったのかも
しれない。戦闘時、軍楽隊手は信号助手、負傷者介護などの
役割を与えられていたという。

史実の部分も、わりあい忠実で、秋山真之参謀もちゃんと変人めいて
描かれているし、東郷平八郎（また三船敏郎）の言行や振る舞いも、それらしい。
個人的に興味深かったのは決戦前に三笠艦長伊知地彦次郎大佐（薩摩）が、
総員を集めて行ったという演説。
東郷もそうだったけれど、薩摩言葉も進歩していた（笑）。

同じく決戦前に、軍医長の提案で行われたという艦内の一斉清掃と
消毒、救命ボートに海水とスチームを注いでの総員風呂、新品の
戦闘服への着替えも、描かれていた。

こういうところがちゃんとしていてくれると、多少ストーリーが
クサかろうと、身を入れて観てみるかという気になる。
いやいや、沖田浩之。なかなかの演技でありました。

この映画、どこか「男たちの大和」に似ています。

日本海海戦もの・・・ですが、実際は戦艦三笠を舞台にした群像劇。
話の中心は完全に一人の軍楽隊員で、映画自体はかなり反戦色が強いです。

海戦シーンは臨場感がありなかなかの迫力ですが、戦艦のミニチュアどうも作りこまれていなように感じました。というか、三笠、被弾しすぎ！　三笠に砲撃が集中したのは事実ですが、何も知らない人が観たら、日本海海戦で三笠は沈んだの？って質問が来そうです。

明治天皇・・・なにか違う・・・だいたい、なんで権兵衛や東郷なんかといっしょにメシを食っているのか・・・。
明治天皇は「二〇三高地」の三船敏郎、「明治天皇と日露大戦争」の嵐寛寿郎のほうが雰囲気がよいと思います。
秋山中佐も、なんか威厳がありすぎるような気が。

ラストシーンで神田が吹くトランペットの曲は、明らかに明治の曲に聞こえず違和感があります。

日本海海戦そのものの映画を観たい方は、「日本海大海戦」「明治天皇と日露大戦争」のほうをオススメします。

それにしても、「海ゆかば」はいい曲ですね〜
