   キーンのデビュー・アルバム『Hopes ＆ Fears』は、たぶん多くの点でコールドプレイと比較されることになるだろう。まず、インディ・レーベルのフィアース・パンダに見出されたという点が両者共通しており、キーンはここからシングル「Everybody's Changing」をリリースした。そして、キャッチーで心温まるインディ・ポップをヒットさせていること、すべての曲が陶酔的なヴァースと高らかなコーラスを特徴としていることも共通点だ。ただし、コールドプレイやトラヴィスのファンが喜びそうな音楽であることは間違いないが、キーンはもう少しデリケートなサウンドを生み出すことに成功した。その秘密を探れば、異色の楽器編成にたどり着く。ギターの代わりに、この3人組はピアノを使うのだ。

   その最良の部分において、本作は『The Bends』をリリースした頃のレディオヘッドを連想させる。ヴォーカルを担当するトム・チャップリンの声は、クリス・マーティンのかすれた涙声よりトム・ヨークのファルセットに近い。ヒット・シングルとなった「Somewhere Only We Know」を始めとするトラックで、キーンは持ち前の無駄のないサウンドに、壮大で感動的な調べをどうにかねじ込んでいる（これはプロデュースの優秀さに負うところが大きい）。全12トラックを通して聴くと､ジワジワと攻めてくるメランコリーにうっとうしさを感じる部分もあり、もう少し茶目っ気があってもいいのにという気がする。しかし、その点を差し引いても、この『Hopes ＆ Fears』が注目に値する1枚であることに変わりはない。明るい将来を約束された若手バンドによる、驚くほど成熟したデビュー・アルバムだ。（Robert Burrow, Amazon.co.uk）

テレビで「Somewhere Only We Know」を聞いて発売後すぐに購入しましたが、飽きとは無縁です。
Keaneは３人で構成されたギターレスバンドです。
激しいロックがお好きな方にとってギターがない事は物足りなさに繋がってしまうかもしれませんが、Keaneにとってギターレスは欠点にならないと感じます。
個人的な解釈ですが、「ギターレスだから」という表現ができると思います。

Keaneの音楽は繊細で、何より美しい。とても美しい。
一日の始まりや終わり、午後のちょっとした時間などによく聞きます。
Keaneの持つリズムは心音のようです。音楽の色は、一日のワンシーン、朝や昼、夜のようです。
Voは優しげで温かさを持っていますが、内に静かな、激しい叫びを込めているようにも感じられます。
歌詞は悩みや迷いを抱えた物が多く、心に響きます。
「Somewere Only We Know」は名曲です。まるまる一曲聞いて頂ければ、好みが分かると思います。視聴をお勧めします。

もろに日本人の好みに合ったバンドです。
トム・ヨーク系の繊細なボーカルに、覚えやすいメロディ。
コールドプレイやレディオヘッドのフォロワー的なバンドは多いんですが、
Keaneはギターがいない変則スリーピースというスタイルで
見事に独自性を打ち出していて、それがハマってますね。
これから先も生き残れそうな気がします。

個人的にオススメのトラックは1,2,5,8です。
特に1と5は素晴らしいトラックで、Keaneの醍醐味が味わえます。
初めて洋楽を聴く方にもぜひ！（洋楽を聴かない私の家族にも大好評だったのでｗ）
それにしても、Keaneを含め2004年のUKロックの新人は収穫が多かったと思います。

ファーストでこの美しいメロディ。コールドプレイやトラヴィス（やミューズ？）が好きな人に勧めたい作品です。
３人ともダイナミックなドラム、ピアノ、ヴォーカルを披露していて、これならギターもベースもいらないのも納得。
イメージとしては星空。そういう音楽です。このバンドも今後どうなるか楽しみです。

今のイギリスの音楽シーンは本当におもしろい。これからも目が離せません。
