ジョージクリントンに見出され、Pファンク軍団のキーボード奏者として活躍後、
現在のデトロイトの重要アーティスト達の作品のほとんどに参加している
アンプ・フィドラーのソロデビューアルバムです。
独特のしゃがれ声ヴォーカル、甘美なローズやピアノ、
ムズムズ来るベース、腰を振りながら手拍子を挟みたくなるドラム
などが絡み合い極上のグルーヴが出ています。
ムーディーマンほどドロドロな暗黒感はなく、
アルバム1枚通して比較的ゆったりと聴けるのですが、
それが逆にジリジリと脳の裏側を心地よく痺れさせ、
さらに下半身の疼きを持続させることになり・・・とにかく堪らないです。
ブラックミュージック好きは是非。

Ｐファンクのメンバーと聞いて、もっとドロドロでズブズブな暗黒世界を想像していたのですが（笑）
実際にはとても聴きやすい、スムースなＲ＆Ｂであると思います。

しかし表面の甘いメロディーの裏では、しっかりとボトムの太いベースラインが渦を巻いており
この絶妙な味付けが、そんじゅそこらのキャリアを歩んできた訳ではない事を証明しています。

ちなみに最後のタイトル曲の後、４分ほどのボーナストラックが入っていて
これがまた、かなりサイケデリックな感じでいいんですよ！
是非聴いてみてください。

何回も繰り返し聴きたくなるような、中毒性の高いアルバムですよ。

これはカッコいいね、洒落てるね。Craig Davidなんか子供に見えちゃうぐらい確立してる。一曲、一曲を抜き出して聴いてもイイし、通しで聴くとまた違った味わい深さ。しかもこんなに洗練されてるのに、生き生き自由に即興みたいに歌えちゃうなんて、細胞レベルで飛んでるね。デトロイト関係者ってのは渋い、あそこはブリストル並に秀でたアーティストが溢れてる。

こんなにピアノと合うしゃがれ声も珍しい、是非HancockやInnerzone Orchestraなんかともやってほしいし、もうやってるのかもしんないけど、Derrick Mayのキラびやかなテクノなんかにも合うかもしれない。ブラック・ミュージックのブームが一段落して、残るべき人が残ったみたいな、驚くべき実力感じます。

「ゲットーのワルツ」ってタイトルだけど、これはゲットーじゃなくて、大都会の夜更けだろ。
