このアルバム、内容は文句なしなのだが疑問が一つ。

初版は当然ＬＰ２枚組みだったが、コリア・バートンそれぞれ一曲ずつ無伴奏ソロ演奏が収録されていた。じつはこの２曲、セニョール・マウス、バド・パウエルに勝るとも劣らぬ名演なのである。とくにコリアの１０分を超えるラヴ・キャッスルは本アルバム中の白眉、ベスト・ワンであった。その２曲がＣＤ化にあたり削除されたのはなにゆえか？もちろん真相は不明。ただ、ＣＤ一枚に収まりきれんから削った・・・・・のならとんでもないこと。事情を知らないファンへの裏切り行為である。この２曲を含めての再発がいまだになされないから、わたしはＣＤを買う気が起きないのである。皆さん知ってました？

もう１６年間，しょっちゅう聴きまくっている愛聴盤中の愛聴盤です。本作と「マッド・ハッター」が，チックの最高傑作ですね。完成された音世界。もうこれ以上どんな楽器がどんな演奏で加わっても，この完成度は損なわれるばかりでしょう。

そして「ビバップ後」のコンテンポラリー・ジャズの理想的なサウンドが，もっとも純粋な形で聴けるのがこのアルバムだとも思います。
それだけ完成度の高い演奏ながら，「トウィーク」のピアノソロなんてきっと演奏の度に全く違うんだろうなあと思わせるぐらい自由で自然発生的で，いきいきと歌うような演奏ですね。
ＣＤ化に際して２曲落ちなのはほんとに惜しいのですが，おかげでこの曲と「フォーリング・グレイス」が続けて聴けるのが素晴らしいです。

たった１つ惜しいのがジャケット。ＬＰではほおっと見入ってしまうような美しい夕焼け空の色調が，ＣＤでは何度再発されても再現されてないのです。

それにしても，９７年にこのデュオを生で聴いて分かりました。「ＥＣＭの音」も，このアルバムの大きな大きなポイントです。
とにかく最高です。この観客になりたかった…。

4本マレットのビブラフォンの魔術師ゲイリー・バートンと組んだ『Cristal Silence』のライブ盤の2枚組。このコラボレーションも目利きマンフレート・アイヒャーの見立てだが、これが凄い。この中でも『La Fiesta』を是非とも聴いてもらいたい。これぞやるときはきちっとやる業師の音楽とでもいえそうなみごとな演奏である。しかもこれはライブだ。聴けた人は本当に羨ましい。

ソロにコラボレーションにエレクトロニックスにアコースティックにジャズ界で最も元気な人になっている。しかもどの作品もエキサイティング。シンセを弾かせてもそのカッコ良さは半端じゃない。
　チック・コリアはこんなに凄い人だけどとても気さくな顔をしている。不思議な人だ。僕にとってはいつまでも。
