   蛇型拳法と鷹爪型拳法が対立し、凶悪な鷹爪派の闘将ユンに蛇型派が押されまくっていた頃、若者チェン（ジャッキー・チェン）は蛇型派の生き残りである老人（ユアン・シャオチェン）に親切にしたことから秘伝の蛇拳を教えてもらうことに…。
   ジャッキー・チェン主演ならではの初期コミカル拳法映画。日本では『酔拳』のヒットによって続けて公開されたものだが、製作年は『酔拳』よりも前で、まだ映画としてはこなれきってない部分もあるが、ジャッキーの原点を探る上では欠かせない魅力を持った作品であることに間違いはない。クライマックスで延々と続く香港クンフー映画独特の決闘シーンの迫力もさながら、拳法を会得すべく四苦八苦するユニークな特訓シーンの数々から、ジャッキーの明朗なキャラクターがこの頃既に確立され、見事にマッチしていたことがわかる。『酔拳』同様、老師匠を好演するユアン・シャオチェンとのコンビネーションもいい。監督は『酔拳』も手がけ、後にハリウッドにアクション指導として招かれることにもなるユアン・ウーピン。（的田也寸志）

吹き替えトラックがないのは、価格的にも納得はできます。
残念なのは、ラストの決闘にカット部分があること。ただしこれは
このソフトに限った事ではなく、以前レンタルした他の出版社のビデオ版
でもそうなっていたことから、マスターの関係だと思われます。
本来、名人・白長天直伝の蛇形拳では抗しきれず、独自に編み出した

“猫爪くずし”をもって反撃、勝利するあたりに見所があるので、
前半の蛇形拳での苦戦部分が抜け落ちているのは、非常に残念な所です。
とはいえ、画像や音声の状態はよく、作品そのものは充分楽しめるので
コレクションとしては問題ありません。

蛇拳ごっこ、酔拳ごっこなど、見よう見まねで暴れまくって
遊んでいた子どもの頃を思い出させてくれる熱いアクションシーンは
20年以上経った今でも同じ感動を与えてくれる、とても素晴らしい出来映え。
少林寺三十六房などに見られる綺麗な型の拳法とは違い、終始暴れまくり
逆にそれが闘いのリアル感を出している様に感じる。

吹き替えがあれば倍以上売れるのでは？　どうして日本語音声が収録
されていないのか、非常に疑問が残る所です。

とある拳法道場の下働きとして働く心優しき青年（ジャッキーチェン）が、道場内の師範からいじめにあいながらも懸命に生きていく中、ふとしたことで敵に追われる蛇拳の達人の老人と出会い、老人はいじめを耐える心優しき青年に同情し蛇拳を伝授していくというストーリー。最後は蛇拳の師匠である老師の敵と戦うというクンフー映画です。
今では定番のジャッキーのコミカルなクンフーアクションも見られ、笑いあり涙ありの感動物の作品となっております。
