　黒いキャバレーというアルバムタイトルだが、その世界は騒々しいキャバレーではなくて、むしろみんなが去ったあとの誰もいないキャバレーで、ぼうっと灯りがついているテーブルに一人で座っているような感覚だ。

　デビッド・リンチの映画によく合うような雰囲気で、なにか古さを感じさせる反面、スタイリッシュでかつ他人をよせつけないような、白日夢に誘い込むような効果を持つ。

　このキャバレー・ノワールというのはイタリアの男女コンビということだが、ボーカルは全曲バーバラという女性で、彼女の歌はウィスパリング（ささやくように歌う）でなぞめいている。演奏はこの手の音楽だと電子音楽が多いが、この作品は生楽器が中心で、とくに一曲目のビブラフォンの音色は頭のなかで振り子のようにゆらゆらと響き渡る。

　とにかくいままでになかったような音楽。Nu Jazzというジャンルがこれなのかどうかわからないけれど、好きな人はとことんはまりそうだ。ちょっと違うけれど、KostersのKlassic with a Kと通じるものがあると思った。

１曲目から、独特な雰囲気に呑まれます。ちょっと暗くて不思議で美しくて漂うような、非現実の世界観。
女性ヴォーカルの声がかわいらしいのにちゃんと歌唱力がある。ウィスパーヴォイスと違ってもっと深みと響きがあり余韻を残す、という感じでしょうか。演奏もＪＡＺＺっぽくてかっこいいです。おしゃれな音楽を求めている人は必聴です！

見つけた…。もの凄い作品を見つけてしまった…。
とあるコンピレーションアルバムでその名前を見つけて、ネットで試聴して、タワレコで注文して、今日やっと届いたこの作品。
"CABARET Noir"と書いて「キャバレー・ノワール」。イタリアの超有名レーベル、SCHEMAから放たれた男女デュオアーティストのデビュー作品、にして傑作。んもぅ、最高傑作です。

まずライナーノートを手に取ってびっくり。紙が艶やかで美しい…。まるで高貴な化粧品の説明書のような仕上がりです(知ったかぶり)。
続いてCDを再生して、さらにびっくり。物凄く妖艶でミステリアスな世界観…。
女性ヴォーカル、バーバラの歌声は儚くて切なくて美しくて、まるで幻想か夢の中で独り謳い続ける少女の幻影のよう…。

そしてサウンドメイカーのパスクワレが作る、モーダルでレトロな雰囲気を醸し出すジャズの音色。これも美し過ぎる…。
さらにさらに、とっても不思議でミステリアスな歌詞。ライナーに日本語訳が載っていますが、読んで愕然とします。これだけ流麗なメロディとヴォーカルに合わせて、まさかこんなに毒のある歌詞が歌われているとは…。なんてアダルトなアーティストなのでしょう。

自分の中では椎名林檎もCOCCOもBjorkでさえも軽く飛び越えて、今世紀で1番アダルトな雰囲気を持つアーティストになりました。

作品全体に溢れるムード、レトロ洋画のハイライトを幾つも切り取ったような時代を感じさせる音、そしてバーバラの悲しくなる程美しい歌声。誰かに聴いて欲しいけど、誰にも聴かせたくない最高の作品に逢えました。
すいません、音に酔いすぎて若干文章が舞い上がってます…。
