２００１年２月に発売されたＰＳ２ソフト「tsugunai~つぐない~」のサウンドをレコーディングしなおしたもの。クロノクロス、ゼノギアスなどで有名な光田康典氏によるプロデュースです。

ゲームをやったことがないので純粋に単独の作品として聞いた感想を書きます。

一言でいえば、洗練された民族音楽。霧がかった山奥での様々な情景が思い浮かびます。町を覆う朝霧、うっそうと茂る森、精霊宿りし塔、町酒場、夕暮れ・・。敵と戦い、悲しみに暮れ、魔王と戦い、平和を取り戻す。アルバム全体を通して一つのストーリーになっています。まったりとした曲が多く似た感じの曲もいくつかありますが、多様な音源とその組み合わせが飽きさせない曲たちを創り上げている。光田氏の音楽を知っている方には、ゼノギアスの延長上にある音楽と言えばわかりやすいでしょう。

ジャケットで光田氏は、方向性を見失った時期にかいた曲だとおっしゃっていますが、そのもやもやとしたアンバランスな感じがこのアルバムの良い意味での“くせ”になっている気がします。何はともあれ、色々な意味で味わい深い音楽だと思いますゆえ、おすすめしたいです

光田氏というとどうしても「クロノ・トリガー」を思い出してしまうが、このCDを聴いてパッと同一人物とは思えなかった。

以前と比べて見違えるほど曲が洗練されているし、題名と曲の持っている雰囲気がとても合っている。
曲調も全体的に落ち着いている所も良い。
なぜなら、ゲーム音楽にありがちな、アップテンポの曲ばかり収録して聴く人を興奮させ、曲の善し悪しを見誤らせるという事がないからだ。

曲が使われたゲーム「つぐない」は個人的にあまり好きではないが、それでも音楽はとてもよいと思った。これは凄い事だ。
（CDを聴いて自分だけの「つぐない」ストーリーを考えるのも一興）

ＰＳ２ゲーム「つぐない」のサウンドトラックです。ゲーム自体が相当マイナーですが，担当した作曲者が著名な方で，ゲームはやったことないけど作曲者のファンだから…ということのほうが売りのＣＤになっていると思います（笑）。

内容は相当よく，音質面はよくも悪くもばっちりです。ゲームのＢＧＭという感じがしません。曲としてはダークというか，大人の世界ですね。古代文明とジャズが融合しています。特に魔王も，中世の魔王ではなく古代文明の神みたいな感じです。

自分もこのＣＤはかなり個性的な音楽だから相当好きで，よくききました。ゲーム音楽としても決して正統派ではないけれども，こういう音楽もあって，しかもそれがなかなかいいと思えるものではないでしょうか。
