オジー在籍時サバスのアルバムは全てが傑作と言えるが。個人的に一番好きなのはマスター・オブ・リアリティなんですが、次に好きなアルバムがこれです。サバスの中でもプログレッシブなアプローチがかなり見受けられるアルバムだと思います。皆さん書かれてる通り冒頭四曲は素晴らしいできです。のっけからサバス節全開のキャッチーナンバーで幕を明けます、リフ・マスターことアイオミ氏の印象的なメインリフにオジーの変態ヴォイスがのる、これでつかみはOKです。そして二曲目のアコースティカルで不思議な小曲から、名曲悪魔の印に突入。これが目茶苦茶カッコいい、今聞いても古くさくないし、単純なんだけどこれぞメタルなリフにビルの叩きまくりドラムとギーザーの引き摺るベースが絡む様は圧巻、終盤にはアコースティカルになる曲構成も最高。そして四曲目、誇大妄想狂。個人的にこのアルバムで一番好きなのがこの曲です。超怪しい雰囲気が醸し出されるこの曲は、凝りに凝られてます。複雑な曲構成、メロトロンの使用、ヴォーカルのオーバーダブなど本当にいろいろ施されてます。続く、五曲目もキャッチーないい曲だし、六曲目はプログレで面白い曲だし(これ聞くとピンク・フロイドの原子心母を思い出してしまいます)。七曲目は一緒に歌いたくなるキャッチーナンバー、でも最後は怖い。そしてラスト、これもかなり凝られておもしろい一曲です。本当にこのアルバムは凝られてて、いろんな発見ができると思います。サバスはドロドロなサウンドだけじゃないと、やはり再確認させられます(前作や次作もオススメします)。本当に素晴らしいバンドです、僕の神であり永遠の憧れです。

サバスの全ての作品が好きだ。こんなバンドはローリング・ストーンズとアイアン・メイデンくらいか。オジー時代の最高傑作と言えば、私は迷わずこの「サボタージュ」にとどめを刺す。理由は簡単、オジー時代のブラック・サバス以外では、誰も作れない作品（世界）だからだ。エアロスミスで言えば、「ドロー・ザ・ライン」の位置にある作品か。常軌を逸した異常な楽曲やパフォーマンス以上に、アルバム全体が狂っているのだ。まるで何かに取り付かれ、何かに追われているかのような・・・。焦燥感、飢餓感、絶望感、閉塞感、混沌、破壊願望、逃避願望、裏切り、誇大妄想、自己憐憫、カルト信仰、自己陶酔、惑溺、堕落、放縦・・・創始者の一人でもある、アイオミですら想像だにしなかった、サバスという巨大なバンドに棲みつくありとあらゆる負のイメージが、この作品では情け容赦なく展開されている。うわべの過激さを売り物にする連中とは、別格の、本物の、身近な、魔物の世界である。心して聴くように！

本作は現在では、名作としての知名度の上がった作品だと思います。

大昔、80年ごろでは、どちらかというと駄作のレッテルが張られていたような気もしますが、
(オーヴァー・プロデュース気味であるということと、オジーが「トニーはバンドをピンク・フロイドにしようとしている。」発言をしていたせいもあると思います・・)、その時代でも
私はこのアルバムが好きでよくターンテーブルにのせていました。

多分、本作が高い評価を得られるようになったのは、メタリカあたりが登場して以降だったと思います。現在ではサバスの代表作とされている「マスター・オブ・リアリティ」でさえ、
かつてはマンネリ気味のアルバムと書かれることがあったくらいですが、スラッシュメタル登場以後、急に最高傑作呼ばわりされるようになったんですから・・。
ギターリフの作り方などが、スラッシュ系のスタイルのお手本となったという点でも
これらのアルバムは、現在の目で見ると傑作として語るべきですね。


それから、6曲目「帝王序曲」ですが、
マーティン時代よりも前、ロニー・ディオ時代初来日の時にもオープニングとして使用されていましたし、オジー時代の「ネヴァー・セイ・ダイ・ツアー」の時にもオープニングとして使用されています。
