鳥たちの時代は、日本フィルの演奏が既に出ていて、筆者もずっと愛聴していたが、録音、演奏技術の点でこちらのほうが優れる。
作品もこのころの作品がいわゆる“現代音楽”と“聴衆にわかりやすいハリウッド的な映画音楽の延長上の作品”
との緊張感があって、実は私は一番評価する。

チェロ協奏曲はちょっとマンネリかな、と思わないでもないけれど、美しい瞬間を持つ作品。独奏も含め高い水準の演奏。

“チカプ”は聞いて初めて知ったが、オーケストラバージョンの演奏。美しいけれど、オリジナルのフルートの
合奏のために書かれた版の方が、限られた書法の中での緊張感があったと思う。聞いて居られない方はぜひお勧め。
最後に静かに収束するところはとてもいいと思う。バッハの無伴奏の作品をオーケストラ化すると、
オリジナルの緊張感が薄れるのに似ている。
