1977年発表。イーノのソロ・ロック・ミュージシャンとしての4枚目にして最後のボーカル・アルバム。ベースにパーシー・ジョーンズ、ドラムにフィル・コリンズなども参加していて目を引く。
1曲目はベースがパーシー・ジョーンズ、ドラムがフィル・コリンズなのにトーキング・ヘッズの曲じゃないのかなと勘違いするほどである（●＾o＾●）。ただ5でロバート・フィリップ御大がでてくると、突っ走りにハイってイーノ・ファンクで突き進むと言う感じになってくる。これが一転、LPレコードで言うところB面、7曲目になると知的にしてコンセプチュアルなイーノに変貌して行く。これが『Before And After Science』かと言う感じである。
2人のイーノはこのアルバムで融合し、1人のイーノになる。そしてこれからは今現在の触媒としてのイーノ、オブスキュアにしてアンビエントなブライアン・イーノとなっていく。

Eno先生のヴォーカル4部作の4枚目。この時期には既に50以上のアーティストのプロデュース等を手掛けており海を渡りＹＭＯ発生等にも大影響を与えています。奥行きとアイデアの多さは論理的な方式と偶然性から生み出されたもので以降様々な有名無名限らずミュージシャンからテレビ、ラジオの効果音に至るまでそのままや手を加えた状態で多種多様されて続けかつ多くの人々に愛されています。今でさえの斬新な素材の集約がそれぞれの曲として成り立ちそれが1枚のアルバムとして完成されていつ聞いても別の印象を受けるが決してペシミズムにならない音階など使われ電気音楽が温かみを受ける先駆的な計算までされて、全ての仕事に駄作はない人ですが、その中でもサブリミナル的に最も多くに聞かれている可能性が高く耳なじみが抜群によく演奏者も驚く程豪華なアルバムです。当時の音楽誌には今後10年はイーノとボウイとデビットバーンの時代になると書かれてたりもしていました。

映画で使われた曲がはいっているため、にわかに注目をあびていますが、イーノを知らない人はぜひ他の曲、ほかのアルバムにも目をむけてください。音楽以前に音質に対してこれほどこだわり、細心に作る人はまれです。歌手ではなく、作曲家、音楽家です。イーノのプロデュースで成功した人は数しれません。

このアルバムの目玉は私は「スパイダー＆アイ」ですね。思わず泣いてしまう名曲です。歌詞も簡単ですからぜひ訳してみて。あなた自身の「泣ける映画」を思い浮かべ、聞くといいです。

イーノのボーカル曲が気にいった人は、１ｔｓから４ｔｈあたりまでが歌付きです。その後はアンビエントに行きますので。一押しはその境目あたりに位置する「アナザー・グリーン・ワールド」です。これはもう、せっか!!くイーノを知ったんですから、聞かなければいけない。感動まちがいなしの傑作です。
