日本のロックというジャンルがあるのかどうか分からないが、ロック魂というものがあるとしたら間違いなくこのパンタが「ロック魂」を持った男だと断言できる。頭脳警察からずっとある意味では日本のロックの最前線を走り続けてきた。オーバーグラウンドに出ることはないが、間違いなく日本のロックを支え続けてきた。そのパンタがソロ活動を開始して油の乗った時期のライブである。大きな視野からの社会的な歌はなかなか日本では生まれず、「マラッカ」のような歌はパンタしか歌わない非常にレアな題材の秀作です。他の曲も歌詞カード片手に聴く価値のある曲が多いです。レコードよりも音がよく聞こえるのは技術的な向上もありそうです。

今回のPANTA & HALのアルバムの再発（「マラッカ」、「1980X」、「TKO NIGHT LIGHT」）は、長い間これらのアルバムが入手困難であったため、かつて92年にPANTA関連のアルバムが一斉にCDで出た時に買う事が出来なかった新しいファンにとっては朗報であろう。

私の場合BOXを買ってしまったので、手元には「マラッカ」、「1980X」、「TKO NIGHT LIGHT」のビクター版と、今回の紙ジャケット版の両方があるのだが、結論から言うなら今回の再発は、買い直す意味が十分にあると言える。それは、紙ジャケがコレクターズアイテムであるからではなく、デジタルリマスタリングが、非常に丁寧かつ効果的になされているからである。

その効果は「マラッカ」と「TKO NIGHT LIGHT」で最も良く実感できる。本作「TKO NIGHT LIGHT」の場合、ビクター版と比べて臨場感が全然違う。PANTAのヴォーカルはもちろんのこと、各楽器の分離も素晴らしい。こっちを聴いた後でビクター版を聴くと、ベールが一枚かかっているように感じられる。

新しくPANTAのファンになった若い世代はもちろん、LP時代からのファンにもお勧めしたい一枚であると言えよう。
