みゆきさんの場合、シングルにしか入っていない曲も多いですし、
アルバムの先行として出た場合、アルバムではサウンドを変えたり、
まったくアレンジ自体を変えたりして収録したりすることもありますが、
「Singles」収録曲に比べるとずっと減っている気がします。
でもまとめて持っておくならこの一組があると便利です。
２枚でこの値段ですからとってもお得だと思います。

ここでしか聞けない曲は：（すべてお薦め曲です）
　１）3. ジェラシー・ジェラシー、4. 兆しのシーズン
　２）4. グッバイガール、6. 空港日誌、10. シュガー
　　　＊特に2-4, 6, 10は名曲に数えられるものです。

アルバム収録曲だが新アレンジのもの：（お薦め曲はなし）
　１）6. 親愛なる者へ、10. 見返り美人(2ndヴァージョン)
　２）8. 熱病(2ndヴァージョン)

「大吟醸」発売前は、「中島みゆき Best Selection II」
というのがあり、とても重宝していましたが、
それも今では廃盤となってしまっていますので、この時期のものとしては、
実質的には、この一組がまとまったアルバムになると思います。

歌詞カードは、初出の時のシングル・ジャケットの写真が入っているのは、
「Singls」と同じですが、CDシングルの時代で、
写真が細長いのが少し残念です。

こちらは1987年の「御機嫌如何」から1993年の「時代/最後の女神」までの全10枚、20曲のシングル曲が収録されています。7年かかってシングル10枚、というのは昨今のリリース乱発のご時勢から見ると随分とゆっくりしているなーという印象もありますが、それだけ1作1作が丁寧に作られているようにも感じます。ヒットシングル「あした」「浅い眠り」「時代」収録のほか、一時「かもめーる」のCMに使われ夏の風物詩となった「御機嫌如何」、パナソニックのCMに使われた「Maybe」、「ニュース23」のエンディングに使われた「最後の女神」など話題曲満載です。そして、忘れてはいけない超名曲の「誕生」もここで聴けます。アルバムのよりディープな世界は難しいけど、シングルは聞きたい！という人にオススメしたい1枚です。個人的には、異色作の「ジェラシー・ジェラシー」や生まれ変わった「仮面（New Version)」が好きです。

　87年から93年までのシングル集。DJを降板したり、夜会が始まったりと、
みゆきさんにとって重要な転機となった時期。
いわゆる「瀬尾一三時代」が始まった瞬間も収録されており、そういう意味でも
非常に興味深い作品。
　
　Disc-1とDisc-2を聴き比べてみてください。雰囲気が全然違います。
　まず、Disc-1、オリジナル未収録の2.〜4,が、超名曲1.時代とミリオンヒットの
5.浅い眠りをつなぐ名脇役の役割をし、7. 誕生、8. Maybeでハイライトを迎え、
しっとりとしたアレンジの10. 見返り美人で締めくくる構成。
リリースの新しい順に並べたシングル集なのに、オリジナル並みの聴き応えで
大感激しました。1〜5、6〜10でLPレコードのA面B面のような感じもします。
　
　Disc-2も1. with 3. あしたなど名曲揃いですが、1枚のCD全体として見ると、
そこまで強い構成ではないように思います。また、聴き進んでいくうちに、
失恋歌時代のみゆきさんに戻っていく気がして・・・。こちらは曲順を古い順に
した方がよかったかも（企画上仕方ありませんが・・）。

　言い換えれば、この2枚組の作品の中に、彼女の進化がはっきり見えているということ。
この時期に積極的に作品の路線を変え、表現の幅を広げていったからこそ、
現在の彼女に繋がっていることが改めてわかりました。
　
　実はカラオケ用に久しぶりに聴き直したのですが（笑）、この作品はそれ以上のことを
私に教えてくれました。
　
　これから中島みゆきを知りたいという方にお薦めなのはもちろんですが、自称上級者の方
にも改めて聴いてほしい。そんな作品です。
