　これは、面白い企画だと思う。
　ただ、別のところで欠いたのだけれど、ジミヘンの凄さが本当に理解できるまで、僕は何十年の（大袈裟か？）歳月を要した。
　オリジナルのとてつもない才能の輝きの持つ意味が理解できた後で、この現代の名人上手がカバーしても、所詮、オリジナルは超えられない。
　ジミヘンのベスト盤と比較して聞いてみると、この企画に集められたアーティストたちに哀れみを感じる。

他の方が絶賛しているアーティストでも、またいつの時代も色あせることの無い名盤でも、年代の違いや音楽環境の違いで、気になりながらもじっくりと聴くことなく通り過ぎてしまう場合があります。
ジミ・ヘンドリックスは、私にとって全くそんな感じのアーティストです。

あるきっかけがないと、偉大なアーティストほど改めてじっくり聴くことができないものですが、（CDになって聴きたい音楽がすぐ聴けるようになったことが、逆にいつでも聴けるという安心感を生み、今すぐ聴きたいという意欲も無くなったのもあります。）

レニー・クラヴィッツ目当てで買ったこのトリビュート盤を聴くと、根底となるジミの音楽の素晴らしさや彼への音楽的好奇心が沸き起こり、オリジナルを辿る旅へとスムースに逆行していけそうです。

まさに超豪華という言葉がぴったり来るCDです。今年はJ-POPのトリビュートがはやっていますが、これはそれ以上のトリビュートです。今は亡き人への想い、それがトリビュートなのですから。そして、参加ミュージシャンが豪華な上、ジミヘンのことを本当に敬愛している人、音楽的に影響を受けている人が携わっていることに引かれます。

「パニッシュ・キャッスル・マジック」ではラテン魂炸裂のサンタナ、「パープル・ハウス」ではジミヘンの天才肌を受け継いだ？プリンス
「ジ・ウィンド・クライズ・メアリー」では、ジミヘンの音楽をソロになって表しているスティング、「ウードゥ・チャイルド」では アース・ウインド＆ファイヤー、ライブでも披露していない「ナイト・ランプﾞﾅｲﾄ･ﾗﾝﾌﾟ 」のエリック・クラプトン、もろジミヘンの影響を受けている「エレクトリック・レディランド」のレニー・クラヴィッツなどなど、お楽しみが出てくる出てくる。トリビュートありがちなオリジナルとの違いを挙げれば、きりはないだろう。ジミヘンの違った魅力を感じたり、自分の好きなミュージシャンがどのようにジミヘンをカバーするのかを楽しむだけで十分ではないだろうか？やはり、昔の音楽は素敵だな、ジミヘンって凄いという思いを改めて感じずにはいられないはずです。
