SpringSelectionに続き、これまでの曲を、新たなアレンジ・アプローチで録音し直したSelectionシリーズの第２弾です。オリジナルアルバムと比べると、慶子さんがアコースティックピアノのみを弾いていること、アレンジが厚くなっていることから、彼女のコンサート会場で聴いているような楽しみがあります。オリジナルに比べ、アレンジは変わっていますので、慶子ファンに楽しめるのはもちろん、慶子さんの美しいピアノが楽しめること、人気曲が収録されてることから、これから慶子さんを聞くという方にも適したアルバムだと思います。
また、タイトルのSummerですが、カラっとした夏というよりはけだるい夏のイメージの音ですので、大音量で楽しむというよりは、夏のうたた寝のお供として楽しめるのではないでしょうか。

　『Spring Selection』の続編ということですが、もっとシンプルに仕上げてあります。『Spring~』は臨場感があり、目を瞑ったままライブを思い浮かべ、音楽に浸りたい感じですが、『Summer Selection』はテンポもゆっくりになっていて、眠る前に聴きたいと思うような音ですね。何となくバックでかかっているのも良いでしょう＾＾。

　松井慶子さんの音楽をよく聴く人にお勧めです。初めて聴き始める人だったら、『Spring Selection』、『Deep Blue』、『Live in Tokyo』など印象の強いアルバムの方がいいかもしれませんね。

『スプリング~』の続編、と言う事でかなり期待したがこの『サマーセレクション』では仕上がりに多少荒さを感じる。その分、今迄のアルバムよりもポップ感は増大していて、結果的に生活の中で流しっぱなしにする度合いが高い。これまでのアルバムで培ってきたシンセサイザーサウンドを使いつつも、ライトでクールな夏の方向に上手く摺り合わせられていて、ここ迄来たら秋、冬のシリーズが待ち遠しい。スプリング~に続けてすぐ聴くと全然×。仕事中に流しておくと非常に◎。感じ方が大幅に変わる、何とも不思議なアルバム。
