Album Details

Reel People are officially comprised of Papa Records boss Oli Lazarus, engineer Tom Davidson and Restless Soulster Mike Patto. Guest producers DJ Spinna, Phil Asher, Afronaught and Seiji leap immediately off the page, pretty much guaranteeing a dope selection of beats. Live musicians like Kiwi sax-man Nathan Haines and Neville Malcolm (Horace Andy, Marlena Shaw) are equally as promising. And the choice of featured vocalists Vanessa Freeman, Krim, Peter Nelson and Dyanna Fearon among others seems considered to say the least. Soul music is of course the common thread, but Reel People ultimately show here how versatile that genre can be. Defected. 2006.

KJM沖野好洋氏もプッシュするReel Peopleの1stアルバムです。
ジャンルはジャズ、クラブミュージック、クロスオーバーといったところでしょうか。
ボーカルにVanessa Freemanを迎えた「The Light」はじめ、
Angela Johnsonが歌う「Can't Stop」やJagが歌う「Second Guess」など
いい曲がそろってます。Reel Peopleの代表曲はほとんどこのアルバムに入ってます。
Phil Asherなど、海外の有名DJたちもプレイしています。
「Butterflies」を個人的に支持している人がいましたが私もそれには賛成です。かっこいいので。
日本盤は２枚組になっており、未収録の「Spiritual」や、リミックス曲が収録されています。
The LightのCopyrightによるRemixや、Butterfliesのrestless soulによるRemix、
BlazeによるSecond GuessのRemixなどそうそうたる顔ぶれです。
かなりお得な内容です。それに、良曲揃いです、買って損はないと思います。

※この作品にはDefected盤に収録のThe Rain、In The Sun、You Used To Hold Me So Tightは収録されていませんので、お間違えのないように！！！！！

リリースの順番からすれば、PAPA盤（この日本盤のもとになっているもの）→日本盤→Defected再発盤（数曲追加）という感じです。御参考までに。

トラック1のThe Rainは思わず背筋に寒気が走る。ソウルとAORにキレのいいリズム隊を混ぜたような万人に受ける曲調でグウ。ソウルフルなハウスミュージックが好みの方には絶対にオススメしたい一枚。

ボーナスディスクとしてライブバージョンが入っているが、こちらはライブ会場の生録ということでは無く「生演奏」である点も注目。こちらはディスク1に収録されている楽曲を調理しなおしたアレンジバージョンとなっており、オリジナル同等以上の気合の入った秀逸な出来。

非常に濃い内容の上アッサリした曲調なので飽きが来ずに何度も聞けるのがいいところ。

Papa RecordsからリリースされていたReel Peopleのアルバム「Second Guess」。
「Can't Stop」「The Light」「Butterflies」などのクラブヒットチューンを多数収録した
素晴らしいアルバムだったわけですが、それが今回、UKのトップレーベル、
Defectedから再リリースされる運びとなりました！！

気になる内容ですが、セカンド・ゲスに、最新曲「The Rain」と、新曲「In The Sun」、
カヴァー曲「You Used To Hold Me So Tight」を追加収録！！
そしてなんとこれも2枚組で、ボーナスディスクには、代表曲のスタジオ・ライブ・バージョンを収録。
The LightやButterfliesなどはよりライブに忠実なアレンジで、ファンにはたまらない内容です。

これは、既にPapa盤を持っている人も買い、なニュースですよ！
