　ジャック・ジョンソン繋がりでソロデビューとなっただけあって、この作品は賛否両論のようだ。確かに本作品ではジャックやＧ.ラヴもゲスト参加しているだけに、彼等のファンとすれば色々な意見もあるだろう。ただし彼等との比較論だけでは、このドノヴァン・フランケンレイターの魅力は語れないのも事実だろう。この男、あらゆる意味で自由度が高いのである。本当はこんなに注目されては可哀想な気もするぐらい、まったりとした場末感で満ちている（ルックスも）。ハワイの流しのギター弾きといったらいいすぎだろうか？芸の幅もジャックの多彩というのとは違って、自由気まま過ぎるくらいだ。しかしジャック来日時に共演した際、彼のライヴが本家ジャックの評判を上回るくらいだったのも事実なのである！プロのサーファーとしての彼も、記録よりも彼だからこその活動に評価が集まっているような特殊な男なのだ。結局のところ、１枚のCDで全てを表現できるほどスケールの小さい男ではない、といったら褒めすぎだろうか？ともかく、この作品だけでは彼自身の世界観を表現しきれていない部分も多分にあるように思われる。それはアーティストとして未熟なせいもあろうが、要は縁あってのデビューであり、作品なのだから自分が気持ちいいように演っただけ…。しかし作品を通じてでも彼自身の世界を知ってみると、思いの他独特な匂いが漂ってくる。そんな風に考えると、彼の人柄まで感じられて結構味わい深いアルバムのようにも思えるのだが、どうでしょうか？

Jack Johnsonの最新作In Between Dreamsが好きだったら絶対買い！！この2枚を続けて聴くと楽園気分満喫！！東京に居ながらにして波の音が聞こえてきそう・・・。音の隙間から優しい風が吹いてます。

Ｊジョンソンより先にインディーズ版（だったと思う）のドナヴァンを聞いていたせいか、先入観なく楽しめました。ラフでフォーキーなサウンドと少しハスキーなヴォーカルも好みだし。悪くないと思うけど。
