   2年半ぶりとなる7作目のアルバム。グルーヴ感あふれるファンキーなロック・サウンドは健在で、しょっぱなから「ミニスター・オブ・ロックンロール」でガツンと食らわしてくれる。ストーンズばりの「フラッシュ」も極上のロック。また、「ストーム」にはJAY-Zがゲスト参加、レニー流ヒップホップを披露している。その一方で、じんわりとソウルフルなメロディも彼の独壇場だ。

昔、レニークラビッツが何かのインタビューで「音楽（楽器）は本来なるべき音で鳴るべきだ」みたいな事を言っていた記憶があるが、最初このアルバムを聴いた時、ふとその言葉が頭をよぎった。
余分な音を削ぎ落としたようなシンプルな構成とナチュラルな楽器音。それだけでこれだけかっこいい音楽を聴かせてくれるのだから流石。

個人的にはデビュー作と２作目が好きだったが、このアルバムはその頃に匹敵するほど良作だと思う。
前作「ＬＥＮＮＹ」のファンキーさを少~しだけ加えた「ＬＥＴ　ＬＯＶＥ　ＲＵＬＥ」と言ったら語弊あるだろうか？
何れにしても初期からのファンも「自由への疾走」からのファンも両方楽しめる良いアルバム。

今回の作品には賛否両論集まっているようですが、私的には満足いく内容に感じました。レニー独自のビンテージっぽさも残しつつ、新しい音も使いつつ彼の器用さが良く出ているのではないでしょうか？レニー節もばっちり炸裂していると思います。サラっと聞いても、じっくり聞いても格好いい作品だと思います。ただ一つ言うとすれば全体的に平坦な感じがするのも確かかもしれません。もう少し棘のあるインパクトのある曲があっても面白いかなぁとも感じました。でも相変わらず彼は輝きを失っていないと思います。聞く価値は充分あります。

　１回聞いただけでは内容が掴めない深いアルバム。前回のアルバムはストレートなアメリカンロックという印象だったが、今回はビートルズやローリングストーンズ、また本人も言うようにデビッド・ボウイの歌唱法を取り入れるなどしているが、それを今まで聞いたことがないのではないかと思わせる次元でやっているのが驚き。
　勿論先行シングルwhere are we runnin'やflashなど明快なロックもあるが、バラードに関してはメロディーがキャッチーでもなく、むしろ彼のアルバムではせいぜいlet love ruleあたりでしか聞かれなかったピアノサウンドが多いのが興味深い。そしてそれを支えるドラムサウンドも音が太く凄いとしか言いようがない。

　彼のアルバムには大体３、４曲捨て曲があったりするが、今回はせいぜい２曲くらいで内容は濃い。
　ヘビーローテーション間違いなし。何度も聞いてレニーの奥深さを痛感したい。
